Final Paper PHI445: Personal & Organizational Ethics Instructor: Safiyyah Al-Amin February 10, 2013 In this paper I will address the analysis of personal and organizational ethics and values between the for-profit organization of Amazon.com and the not-for-profit organization of Goodwill Industries International Inc. Additionally, both are companies that I utilized on a weekly basis. I have enjoyed the opportunity that this class has afforded me in researching and becoming better acquainted with these organizations. In my analysis, I have uncovered that both companies have their own unique set of problems. However, they do have something in common. Both of these commercial giants share a deep desire to become the best at what they do but, they both share a common problem and that is the ethical and moral issues of how their management treats their employees. Part One - Outline the company profile of Goodwill Industries International Inc. Area of interest - In 2011, Goodwill helped more than 4.2 million people train for careers in industries such as banking, IT and health care, to name a few — and get the supporting services they needed to be successful — such as English language training, additional education, or access to transportation and child care. These are all normal daily duties that most common people take for granted. Our network of 165 independent, community-based Goodwills in the United States and Canada offers customized job training, employment placement and other services to people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges.
