Racial and ethnic issues have been the heart of America from the beginning and they still remain central to the American political systems as we begin the twenty-first century (McClain and Stewart, 186). Achieving equality for everyone in the United States is possible with multicultural and equal education strong societal awareness of the problems, and greater access to professional employment opportunities for minorities through affirmative action policies. The aim of multicultural education is to create equal educational opportunities for all students, especially for those who are from racially and socio-economically disadvantaged groups. The ideology of “American Dream” is for all citizens to have equal opportunities for success, which allows one access to better quality housing and health care (McClain and Stewart, 133). All of these opportunities can be achieved if the young generation can receive the proper foundation in multicultural education.
Even ourselves do, but we don’t really notice that we do. Most common time we do this is when we meet new people or simply talk to other people. Since we cannot know what someone has been through at that moment we judge them based on how they talk and how they act at the time. To give an example from my own life, me and a friend of mine were sitting at the school and she was so quiet that day, first I thought I offended her in some way or even she was upset with me but later on she told me she was sorry for frowning all day and said she argued with her parents and that we were ok. At that time I misjudged her actions and believed something out of my imagination. Examples like this and many more occur in our lives commonly, but we’re not always aware of it.
Her living arrangements were not her only challenges; she also attended a public school due to their financial status. From majority to minority, Kim attempted to learn English watching a television and attended ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Within the group of immigrants, Kim tried to understand the different levels that existed (Kim, 2011). She found herself wanting things the American students had, and being told no due to the beliefs of her parents. From fairy tale to scary tale, she now walked halls that were decorated with graffiti and dirty floors.
I attended St. X’s primary school in San Fernando. I was in Standard One and my teacher Miss Y was in a very irritable mood that morning. She came into the classroom slammed her belongings on the table and shouted at the class to pick up our bags and go outside because she had to rearrange the classroom. For a long period of time we were outside waiting for her to finish in the classroom. Finally she called us back inside and placed us where she wanted us to sit.
Are You Proud To Be An American? It is a great privilige to be an American. We have many rights and freedoms that other countries don't have. Most of us have grown up taking these freedoms for granted. We need to remember how fortunate we are to be American citizens. In the United States, there is free public school education.
Whitney was standing behind me! He said in a threatening voice, “What are you doing here, Chris?” I tried to get a good reason out of my mouth but I said, “I was trying to find a teacher to help me out with my locker, its jammed.” I hid the stapler behind me hoping he wouldn’t see it. He looked at me and said, “All the teachers are in the gym, we are having a pep rally, go back to the gym, now.” I quickly walked out and I saw him look down at the stapler I was holding, he said in an intimidating tone, “I don’t know what you are trying to do, but I am giving you a warning, don’t try what you are doing or you will find a deadly consequence to follow.” Those words sent a chill down my back and I quickly left the
Imagine attending a school full of many intelligent students who just don’t care. At the beginning of the year students start breaking small rules like texting in class and dress code. As the year progresses students start breaking bigger rules like fighting. Recently the students just broke an enormous rule; the food fight. I’ve noticed that Heath has a negative climate, and the 8th graders are going to change it.

I was new to the competition, which made me nervous and somewhat intimidated by the other kids. I arrived at school, where the competition was being held and quickly reviewed some of the words for the competition. As time went by both judges and students arrived one at a time, with students having high hopes of winning. We all walked inside the auditorium and glancing at the wall, I saw quite possibly the worst painting I’ve ever seen, it looked like a robot with fairly diminutive hands and lengthy fingers.
Carmen Espinal Mrs. Ranes ENC1101 December 8th, 2013 Remediation Analysis America has always been characterized for the acceptance of large amounts of immigrants and the cultural diversity that gives the nation its complex culture. However, integration of cultures and immigrants becomes a complicated process when the immigrants themselves raise boarders around them and limit their experience to ethnic groups. In order to express my opinion more efficiently, I chose to remediate my essay into a short video that would target recently arrived immigrants, specifically college students. This new media choice will allow me to communicate my thoughts and suggestions to all immigrants in a universal way, and hopefully encourage foreign students to
Some girls go along, some ignore it, and others are visibly shaken. This happens daily. -No, I don’t believe its sexual harassment, it more verbal and discriminatory. 2. A teacher in an advanced math class frequently "puts down" girls in his class.
