Since soccer is popular, many fans see the striker position as the leader of the team. His teammates are searching him on the field because he is the closest person of the team to the goal from the other team. Most of the time he get the ball from the offensive midfielder, who is the brain of the team with his brilliant ideas how he can play an awesome pass the other teammates can score. Or he gets the ball from the left or right wingers. Most of the time the wingers have to bring the ball into the middle where the striker should score.
Have you ever wondered how to play soccer? I have when I was small. I wondered if I would be good. I also wondered how soccer was played and all the tricks soccer had. I was very excited to play soccer for my first time.
Talent is a great aspect to becoming a great team player. You need talent to succeed and make a good, well-known team. You need talent to be able to dribble, keep possession of the ball, and be able to know the right time to pass and shoot and also, play at a skillful and nippy level. An example of a time where talent was needed is when my brother was about nine years old and he played soccer. His team was going to play against one of the best teams in the league.

With this, I mean, that this game requires more than just goal posts and legs. Being the captain of the Senior Soccer Team at G.D. Goenka World School, I have learnt more than just how to play this game. This game has taught me skills that make me who I am. When I put my feet on the turf, it is unlike my usual steps; these have more courage, more determination, more optimism and most of all more responsibility.

Midfield is a very entertaining position to play, and exercise is not a problem when playing it. Attackers, or forwards, are also a very important part of a good soccer team. Their sole responsibility is to put the ball in the net and get their team points. I often wish I played forward because they run the least amount of anybody on the team, excluding only the goalkeeper. Usually the most talented and skilled players on the team are forwards.
According to Sheed, “Schools and colleges also teach something by their very natures, which is that you are now playing for a whole community and not just yourself” (498).” Essentially, what Sheed is saying is that sports have brought entire communities to share and experience one thing they love, and that this is truly honorable for the individuals playing the game. The amount of pride one presents on his or her favorite sports team or individual is phenomenal and to know that a game can bring together a community of very different perspectives is a thought to be cherished. I am of two minds on this issue. On the one hand, I believe that sports do have an underlying role for disciplinary actions within the players because the game teaches them patience, sportsmanship, and honesty. But on the other hand, I understand that in today’s regime, sports has become a career choice, and how well one performs determines their life’s salary.
Ioannis Koutsogiannis Professor Cohen Sociology 101 10/26/14 Mid-Term Throughout my life many outside forces such as media, friends and family have influenced me, but somehow every experience does shape who you are whether you want it to or not. For instance, I find myself incorporating social media into my daily routine; I hate feeling tempted in the morning to scroll through my friend’s pictures but I do so anyway. I am fortunate enough to be on the Hunter College Men’s Soccer team where I gain a lot of confidence from my friends and just playing the sport as well. I would consider my family and the soccer team as primary groups that have shaped and fortified my character. My family has taught me since birth how to be respectful.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND Please write a short statement of your educational goals, describing how you might use your education in your future endeavors, after completion of your college courses. Whether watching or participating, Sport can be fun, exciting and at times rewarding. This is a personal view, but it is likely to be a view which is shared by other people of all ages. My enthusiasm for Sport first came to light when I was picked to try out for the Botswana U15 Trials, in soccer. Even though I was unsuccessful, it still did not prevent me from furthering my performance in Sport.
