I have the most wonderful children in the world. They are the most important part of my life and a big reason I wanted to return to school, but they are also the reason I felt was so difficult to go back. It is very hard being a full time mom and I work a full time job all while going to school. I have to make sure their homework gets done, dinner gets cooked, clothes get washed, kids get washed and clean up afterwards. I knew before returning to school that it would be hard to accomplish everything but somehow I will find the time to be a great mother as well as a good student.
I decided that I would choose a career in the medical field. I did some research and decided that I would major in medical assisting because I enjoyed help people. I liked the idea of the medical field so much that I took my first job at sixteen as a NA (which is a nursing assistant) in a nursing home. While working there, I helped the residents with their basic daily living such as assisting some of the residents with eating, bathing, making sure that their basic needs were met. So I used that as a stepping stone to begin my decision to go into the medical field.
He said because he was a teacher he was able to hang out with his wife and kids more than he would if he was in another job. I have really enjoyed my time as an exploratory teacher and very grateful I had the opportunity. It has given me the chance to see what being a teacher is like from an outside perspective. I have witnessed teachers my whole life as a student but this was the first time that I really got to see what goes in everyday to being a teacher. I have learned that it’s not as easy as it looks and I also have learned that being a teacher is not always fun and games.
Megan Hawkins Management 5590 Case 2.1 March 22, 2014 1) I’m not used to nurses, but I am used to socializing new hires in my field of work and therefore, I would start it all in the interview process. They need to have realistic expectations for the culture and environment they will be working in, but also how to proceed from there. Then, I would have a structured training program to build them into our training culture, including a type of mentorship between seniority and new hires. I really love including the idea of on-site daycare for busy moms on the go, excellent health care benefits, potluck events, annual dinners in honor of the staff, and of course offering educational and professional development classes. I think all of
I have been thinking about changing my career to become a midwife for a few years. Having been working with families as a portrait photographer I heard a lot of stories about birth and how important the role of midwife was. Talking to my close friends and clients about pregnancy and labour I appreciate the importance of being empowered by being listened to, informed and supported throughout a major event in their lives. I believe I could be a good midwife as I am responsible and dependable, caring, intuitive and flexible. I have good communication skills and motivation to work on my own as well as being a strong member of a team.
Even as a child I have loved the ideas of helping people lead healthier and more productive lives. When I was younger I would ask many questions about the ways things were. By choosing a health career, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of people who are sick or disabled. My life has been filled with various situations that have helped me choose this career. The main influence is my mother; she is a nurse at Mary Immaculate Hospital.
I still have a passion for people and the subject matter that it involves. After shadowing some PA’s, I now have a greater sense of what the profession stands for and what one does in the profession, and it only makes me work harder towards my goal of having a long-term career as a physician assistant. There are so many other students around me that have no idea what they want to do with the rest of their lives, and I feel so lucky to know what I want to be when I “grow-up”, so to speak. I cannot picture myself doing anything else, and I can’t wait to move forward to achieve my goal of becoming a physician
Overall the job seems very interesting and fun, whenever I go to the dentist I always ask the hygienists questions to get more ideas and background about the job so I can fully get a glimpse of what to expect. Dental hygienists do have to have a lot of schooling and it takes a very long time to get through it but in the end the job is a very well paid job so it’s worth it. The outlook of the job is when most people go to the dentist for a routine checkup, the dental
I always felt the need to care for someone since I know that I have the power and the choice to do so. My philosophy of nursing comes directly from my desire to help people. I wanted to be a nurse because I enjoy being around people in their times of need and I get internal satisfaction by serving those that need help. I remember when I was a child and my mom took me sometimes to her work. I loved going with her and see what she was doing like taking care of other people and help them get well.
I remember my dad telling me that “life is what you make it to be and with heart and confidence you can be just about anything you want to be.” Those words always run through my head knowing that anything is possible if you just take the time and try to make it possible. I am grateful and thankful for all they have done for me and will always respect them for all they have given me. My family taught and raised me to get past any obstacle and challenge the world throws at me. I know this medical field is no walk in the park but I will succeed in my studies to be a medical assistant no matter what challenge I have to face. This scholarship will be a helpful start in my medical assisting
