Personal Goals
Absolute potential striving for success, achieving our best whether personally or professionally. Setting realistic goals and developing a plan of action to obtain these goals. Setting obtainable goals and achieving them are the pathway to success. With perseverance and determination both professional and personal goals will be obtained. Goals serve to elevate and help us succeed to a level of fulfillment and dedication to our profession. As a professional, Nurses require knowledge, and personality requires an environment of challenge, this keeps me focused. My chosen career as a requires continual education, it also mandates improving my knowledge base on treatment, disease, and pharmacology. From day- to- day goals that require organization, and the habit of prioritizing my case load to communicating with a variety of health care professionals. One important, professional, short-term goal that I have set is obtaining my certification as a medical and surgical nurse through the Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing Association (American nurses credentialing center, 2012). Steps I have already accomplished toward this goal are, studying the criteria required for certification. Criteria includes: Hold a current, active RN license within a state or territory of the United States or the professional, legally recognized equivalent in another country. They must have practiced the equivalent of two years full-time as a registered nurse, completed 30 hours of continuing education in medical-surgical nursing within the last three years (American nurses credentialing center, 2012) . Looking at this criteria milestones I have obtained up to this point include; registered nurse in Colorado and Wyoming, by June 2013 I will achieve the second requirement of two years as a full- time practicing registered nurse.
