Hi Dr. Qung. I am here to tell you about The event that I attended, which was the Study Abroad and International Internships for Business Students information session. This event took place on September 25, 2012 from 5:00-6:00 o’clock pm and was located in the Bartley room 1010. This event is part of track one.
This event gave the students a little background into Villanova’s prestigious Study Abroad program here on campus. During this information session I learned that Villanova University was rated 3rd in Overseas Studies for all major universities. Last year’s Class of 2012 had one-third of its students participate in some sort of an overseas study abroad program. Last year alone Villanova sent students to 37 different countries to study abroad. They informed us that, if we choose to study abroad, we will take a course load of about 4-5 classes, similar to that of the course load here at Villanova, and will be able to take classes pertaining to our desired majors. Students need to have a GPA of 2.75 in order to participate in the program, or a 3.3 to attend the London Program, due to London’s higher academic standards. While studying overseas the students receive full credit for the course they enlisted in by achieving a grade of a “C” or higher..
The information presented and the presentation itself was extremely helpful and informative. This was one of the events on the list that I knew I wanted to attend immediately after I saw that it was an option. Study abroad is something I seriously am considering doing here. One of the most interesting things that I found about the program is that if a student chooses to study abroad during the school the price of the program is the same as a semesters worth of tuition at Villanova University. This shows that Study Abroad is affordable. I was unsure if I would be able to study abroad because of the expenses, but after attending this information session I now know that it is possible.
