Perisher Perisher Ski Resort, commonly known as Perisher Blue up until 2009, is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. With its location in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains, 220km southwest of Canberra, the ski fields cover 12 square kilometres with a village height of 1680m metres and is a popular vacation region during the main skiing period between July and August. The official season usually runs between the second weekend of June to the first weekend of October. Established in March, 1995 following the merger of Mount Blue Cow Ski resort and the facilities of Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and the Station Resort, Perisher Pty Ltd (renamed from Perisher Blue Pty Ltd in 2009) is the owner and operator of the Perisher and Blue Cow Ski Resorts. The company is an alpine based, leisure and hospitality enterprise based within the Kosciuszko National Park in south east NSW. Perisher Resort also offers various transportation infrastructure such as the Ski tube, operating from Jindabyne carrying people to the snowline via underground railway to the Perisher Alpine Village and Blue Cow Terminal. Perisher Pty Ltd is a multifaceted enterprise focusing on various types of snow sport operation, railway operation, lodgings and a supply of food and beverages. Perisher Pty Ltd plans to develop the village into an all season tourist destination as it is presently a cold destination tourist area only. Perisher is visited by tourists seeking the "best bang for buck" style of experience; in other words, catering to families and young professionals with a high disposable income. Prices range from $408 at the Ski Rider Hotel to $2784 at The Stables for 3 nights each.
