Performance Management Aligning Corporate and Employee’s goals through Collaboration and Communication Performance Management is a key process that, when carried out effectively, helps employees know that their contributions are recognized and acknowledged. It is an ongoing process of communication and collaboration between a supervisor and an employee that occurs throughout the year, in support of accomplishing the strategic objectives of the organization. The communication process includes clarifying expectations, setting objectives, identifying goals, providing feedback, and evaluating results. Performance management is a fairly new concept in the field of human resource management. For years employees have worked long and hard and supervisors have handed out performance reviews. Yet with all this effort many activities where done for the sake of doing them and not for the contribution directly to the preferred results of the organization. Performance management shows us that being busy at work is not the same as producing results. The major contribution of performance management is its ability to focus on achieving results; it redirects efforts away from busyness toward effectiveness. In recent years organizations have been faced with a multitude of such as increasing global competition. These types of challenges has lead businesses to be much more careful about the strategies they choose to remain competitive, this translates into everyone and/or everything dong what they are supposed to be doing to ensure that the strategies are being implemented effectively. This situation has put more focus on effectiveness. The systems and processes in the organization are applied correctly in the right way to the right things thus achieving desired results. These results must be continually aligned to achieve the overall results desired by the organization
