The CIPD (2012) describes performance management “as the process which contributes to the effective management of individuals and teams in order to achieve high levels of organisational performance.” Whereas Marr (2012) suggests it is the process that helps to improve the management, strategy execution and decision making in organisations. Furthermore a performance management system is the set of “interegated and key componement” of an organisations approach to managing performance; by utilising its resources and people in order to develop its skills and capabilities, to give a competitive advantage. (Armstrong, 2009) This report will evaluate the conceptual framework of the performance management systems in place at Destination Skin and Skin Health Spa, by underpinning from various theories and current practices. Each of the systems will be evaluated to demonstrate the operation of the internal and external environment, organisational culture, size and structure and talent and knowledge management; to allow a comprehensive discussion of the two systems; their comparisons, differences, strengths and weaknesses, to propose key recommendations.
