Perfection in the eyes of God [Matthew 5:48] Being perfect is not an option in the world we are living in today. We can’t be always right and the same time always accurate. And if we are to say we are perfect, right then and there we are deceiving ourselves. Because it has clearly stated in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” But since Jesus sacrificed our sins on the cross, our sin has been removed. Nevertheless we still will commit sin and need to seek forgiveness. This is a difficult circumstance, because we are told to do something that might look easy to a human eye. On the other hand it can be difficult to accomplish. Perfection can be defined simply as having done or expressed to the fullest without any lack. The Greek Explanation to Perfect is mature and finished. In the verses above of Matthew 5:48, we see Jesus talking about loving our enemies and giving into the practice of non-resistance. Jesus said these words to show us that if we are to keep these practices we are then keeping His character, which who was perfect. We tend to look perfect on the outside so other would love us. But it is what’s perfect in the heart what God sees. When we take the Greek translation of perfect we see it meaning maturity. But God really means being mature in his character and being mature in a very spiritual way. Paul positions in Hebrews 5:13 we have cannot stay insignificant too long but we have to grow to become significant. Jesus was an example of being perfect. But our objective is to receive that ultimate perfection so we can be like Christ in this soon ending world. One way we can see if we are on the right track to perfection the way God wants us to be is by having a checklist. What are the blessings are we missing or completed in our lives.
