There are many interations of myths and they have evolved greatly in modern time. Three such myths are Medusa, satyrs, and Poseidon; they have recently been retold in the Percy Jackson and The Lighting Thief. They been changed in many ways and in other stayed the same. Here are some examples of both similitarties and differences. Medusa has been in many myths since ancient times, even being shown in movies. She has changed in some ways and in others she has stayed true to the orginal myth. In the orginal myth Medusa was turned into a gorgon because she and her sisters boasted they were more beautiful than Athena and because Poseidon raped Medusa in one of Athena's temples. In the Lighting Thief it was just because the couple defiled Athena's temple. In both myths Medusa and her sisters are punished by turning into horrible beast. In most ancient myths all three gorons could turn people into stone by looking at them, in Percy Jackson only Medusa was capable of such a thing. Something that stayed the same is that when Medusa was turned into a gorgon she was pregant so when Perseus cut of her head Pegasus and Chrysaor sprang from her neck. The countless things that changed and stayed can be argued to a minute point but the core ideas have stayed the same throughout history Satyrs are forset creatures that have the torso and head of a man and the legs of a goat, they also have a set of goat horns on the top of their head. They genernaly are either free spirts or in the service of Dionysus. They are normaly used as little more than plot points in most ancient myths, but in The Lightning Thief they play a more significant role. In most myth they are mischevous and free spirts, in the book they are guardins and protectors.
