THE SEA OF MONSTERS
The book begins with Percy having a nightmare about his best friend, Grover, being chased by some monster and being trapped in a bridal boutique, wearing a wedding dress. His nightmare ends with a big voice booming, "MIIIIINE!!!"
It was the last day of school, and Percy's only friend in school, Tyson, is being teased by bullies (Mark Sloan and his new gang), though this is a normal routine. In gym class, the bullies(the new gang) reveal themselves as Laistrygonians, eight-foot-tall giants with wild eyes, pointy teeth, and hairy arms tattooed with snakes, hula women, and Valentine hearts, and attack Percy with cannonballs. Annabeth appeared, she has been following Percy to talk to him about her own nightmares. She helped   Percy and Tyson defeat the Laistrygonians. The three of them returned to camp in the Gray Sisters Taxi. In the taxi, the Gray Sisters were fighting for an eye and Percy catches it. To get their eye back they   tell Percy that the location he attempts to find   is 30, 31, 75, 12. Even though Percy is confused and asks them what those numbers mean, he sees that   the camp is under attack. They realize that Thalia's tree, which protects the camp, has been poisoned by an unknown suspect. Chiron, the activities director, has been fired because he is suspected of poisoning the tree, and is replaced by Tantalus, a prisoner who has been brought from the Fields of Punishment. Percy does not like Tantalus and does not get along with him. Later   Percy finds out that Tyson is a Cyclops and Posiedon claims Tyson as his son.
Percy has another dream of Grover, and this time Grover and Percy talk to each other because Grover   had made an empathy link, allowing them to communicate sometimes, but only while Percy is sleeping and Grover reveals that he is trapped in The Sea of Monsters by a Cyclops named Polyphemus.
