Paying Students to Keep School Safe

Keeping school safe is a very important matter that most everybody takes very seriously. One of the most haunting threats that pose schools today are drugs and weapons. They hide in lockers and backpacks, often going unnoticed. Many of these threats can be detected by others, but most students are afraid to admit that they know someone carrying a dangerous item. However, if a reward and complete secrecy is offered, more students would be willing to confess their observations. Five main points about this issue that I am going to elaborate on today are; helping students overcome the fear of telling on their peers, making sure students know their information has to be accurate to the point of proving that they are correct, setting up a funding process for schools who do not have enough money to offer rewards to students, establishing training programs to help administration detect illegal substances and items, and adding safety precautions to schools. First, we need to help certain students with their feer of telling on others. It can be very scary to admit to something such as this, especially when there are dangerous items involved. Students must know that although this is scary business, they are doing good to their school and maybe even saving lives. If complete and total secrecy is offered, many more kids would be willing to confess their knowings. No matter what, there are always going to be people breaking the rules and others to afraid to bring it to authority. School wide counceling may be offered for kids who feel like they need the motivation. Together, we can work to make all students feel confident enough to help their school in this way. Second, we need to make sure that students know their information has to be accurate. It can not be just a hype, students must have detailed evidence prepared before taking it to administration.
