Does Patriotism Still Matter? There was a time where our world didn’t exist, neither did our country. Many years ago, our ancestors fought for the rights of their country. People risked their lives to not give up on their country. Would you do the same? Does Patriotism still matter? Some people are true Patriots, while others are not. Patriotism shows that you love and respect everything your country stands for, and you will fight to protect it. When soldiers get sent overseas, they leave their family to protect and keep our country safe. Nathan Hale, a Patriot soldier who spied on the British troops, once said, “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” These people are showing that they are true Patriots. You can tell the difference between a true Patriot and a false Patriot. A false Patriot will give up when the times are hard. A false Patriot doesn’t care what happens to his or her nation and how his or her life could be changed. He or she doesn’t care about the soldiers who are getting sent overseas to protect our country. These type of people are not true Patriots. One of the most famous quote for Patriotism was said by John F. Kennedy, the sixteenth president of the United States. He once said, “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your county can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” This is a very good example of Patriotism. We should all do something good for our own country and don’t always wonder what our country can do for us. We have come a long way from when our country first developed. The question still is, “Does Patriotism still matter?” We must realize how important Patriotism is in our world today. We need to remember the men and woman who died for our rights. We need to show love for our county. We must stand up and keep faith in our own
