The purpose of this assignment is to write a patient narrative on a patient I cared for whilst I was on my placement. The term Narrative relates to the connection of various events in an order for the listener to understand. Narrative can be used within various media sector and professional fields. Narratives play a very important role within the health and social care settings. It can be argued that the patient’s narrative assists the physician and other healthcare staff which include nurses to understand the nature of the condition, treatment or process. This assignment will look at the psychological factors that influence a person’s perception and behaviour towards their health and illness. It will focus on a patient who has Diabetes and is non compliant with her treatment. In complying with the NMC’s code of conduct (2008) on confidentiality, the patient will be called Jane. In order to explore the theories behind Joe’s action, the health locus of control, learned helpless with issues relation to depression has been incorporated. Mrs Brown is a 60 year old woman who is suffering from type 2 diabetes. She was admitted on the ward as her glucose level was unsettled due to her noncompliance regarding her medication and his diet. Therefore this assignment will use the patient’s narrative, biomedical and psychosocial model for the improved health status of the patient. There is various definition of Health with the most common term defined as the metabolic and functional effectiveness of the body. It is used to describe the person who is free from any illness pain or injury. There are various research based articles that have discussed this term with evidence. For example; the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as a state of mental, physical and social wellbeing of a person (Zvoleff, Stoler & Weeks 2013, pp. 125-142). The WHO has also
