Learning Against Grades In this society, students are encouraged to pursue a higher education after graduating from high school. Yet, each individual has a different reason for desiring to move on to college. Students attend college either because they want to increase their knowledge, get a decent paying job after college, or they just want to get the “college” experience instead of going on to the working force after high school. As a first-year college student, I pictured college to be a “… place for learning and growth…” (Jerry Faber, 387), but I was slightly wrong. Everyday I stress over earning a good grade in my classes, instead of being driven to learn the material of the course.
We were all somehow exposed to different backgrounds, as well as lifestyles. Therefore, it’s safe to say that the statement “Is College for Everyone” doesn’t imply to certain people who were raised to think otherwise. However, Pharinet seems to think that most kids should consider not going to college at all. Pharinet went on to explain how most students will find themselves working full-time jobs to help pay the expenses of college, in result their grades begins to drop. Then the student decides to drop to a part-time worker, register for less class hours to find more time to work on improving their grades.
DO NOT overspend. While you’re in college most likely you are going to using your own things like your own credit, debit and everything else. While it’s tempting you can’t let it get to you (the overspending). Remember your using your credit and what better way to build it than in college. Building your credit starts in college if you begin to buy all these things you can’t afford and turn around and not have the ability to pay them off at the end of the month then you’re your credit will begin to decline and that’s not good.
The passage of the “Pick the Public’s Pocket No More” bill would lower college application rates, lower college graduation rates, and lower our country’s number of new college graduates for open positions in the work force. Without grants, many Americans would not be able to pursue college degrees because of the debt they would acquire financing their degree with loans alone. Federal grants allow young adults, who are the future of our country, to pursue a college degree without the full burden of college debts after graduation. He believes not everyone should go to college to pursue a major just because they want to make a lot of money. Murray states something that it is true, ‘Young people with okay-but-not-great academic ability who are thinking about whether to go after a B.A. need to consider the competition they will face after they graduate.’(Murray,2008). If all people want to get into the business, finance, and/or management world once graduated they might have a rough time. There are certain skills needed to be successful, even when giving orders to other people.
People can take advantage of this free college, taxes can be raised, and it can take more time for employees, but there is a way you can fix all of the problems. To be able to have free community college, there should be restrictions against it. If a student doesn’t have a 3.0 grade point average, or if as student doesn’t have a 18 or higher on their ACT, if the attendance is below 95%, and a high school diploma. if there requirements aren’t met, then you shouldn’t allow free community college to that particular person. In conclusion, I believe free community college should be allowed.
The students graduated and became social workers. The faculty member said “They knew that school would be their saving grace, that knowledge was the only thing that couldn’t be snatched.” In other way by them to finish school that would be the only thing they will have for them to save them from poverty and no one would take it away, because now they will have a degree they have earned on their own; have better jobs and be financially stable. These students are trying to overcome poverty by getting an education. Homelessness among college students is a big problem. Not a lot of people are aware of it.
Finding and keeping good teachers cost money. You cannot say that you plan to cut teachers and expect college students to enter the teaching career
Once a 18-19 year old gets their high school diploma they may believe the “ worst years are behind us” phrase but this is false. There will be struggles and your parent will not be there to help you succeed A college student must succeed in getting a job, doing well, making money there and paying for their gas, food, laundry, and books for school. The typical college student must earn scholarships just to get college, if not they’re in a bind. A college degree is not a passage to success. Sometimes the person without the college degree ends up with the less disastrous life; just because one is successful in one area of life success can still result in disaster in another.

Kids are raised to believe that after high school they will go to college. Some kids go to college because they want to prove their parents wrong while others go to get the education. Whatever the reason, the value of a four year college is worth the amount you pay. On average the amount a student pays for college ranges from $8,655 to $29,056 per year which is a lot of money, but college provides education, opens tons of doors for career options, and college graduates earn more than kids that don’t have a degree.
