Parents Are Best Teachers?

Some people believe the idea that parents are best teachers. However, I do not agree with them. There are some reasons to name. First of all, it is difficult to define the concept of best teacher due to diverse demand of students. Some students may feel that they want to help improve their skills such as communication skills and problem solving skills; others want to improve their grades or test scores; others expect their teacher have a profound influence on their future job and life. All these expectations make it difficult to define what kind of teachers is best for students. As far as I am concerned, most of modern day parents do not have the conditions to become the good teachers of their children. They have to focus on earning money, doing their own business or meeting their friends or business partners. The time they spend to educate their kids is next to nothing. They may believe that the family education is less important than the education that received at school or university. This means that parents are impossible to meet the basic standard of being good teachers, much less be the best teacher in a child’s life. However, there are some cases that show some parents who are good at teaching can help their children become top students. They could be regard as best teachers for their children. They are often invited to make presentations about their successful experience in developing their children, but actually such experience is situational and not appropriate for everyone. Some parents like to teach their kids at home because their children does not keep up with other classmates or parents themselves have a set of home schooling methodology, which cannot be widely applied to everyone.
