Provide | two | (2) specific examples of how your development has been influenced by the “rings,” or systems, of influence as he suggests. | | As individuals we develop a lot from our surroundings, it could be through family relationships, friendship and so much more. Urie Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory breaks down four systems in which human interactions develop from childhood into adulthood. The two examples that have influenced my development would be the Microsystem and the Macrosystem. The movie Parenthood displayed parental challenges faced by four siblings. The main character, Gil Buckman, is a prime example of what characterizes Erik Erikson’s stage of generativity versus stagnation in middle-aged adults. This seventh stage characterizes generativity as an adult’s desire to leave behind legacies of themselves to the next generation. On the other hand, stagnation occurs when adults sense they have done little to nothing for the next generation (Santrock, 2012, p. 322). Although the changes in Gil are progressive throughout the movie, he ultimately reaches generativity through providing nurture and guidance to his children.

Users found satisfaction in the guidebooks and noted that they were essential in coping with powerful emotions, perceptions about the purpose of visits, understanding each other’s perspectives, communication, and preparation. It is an ongoing adjustment for the mother to allow another adult who is not the father of her children to assist with behavior corrections, establishing rules, and allowing the step dad to follow through with adult correction and leadership in the household. The ability to deal with the stress of change in the family unit depends on their ability to cope, and the maturity level of their coping skills. It is important for this family to realize it is strength to turn to family counseling or others for support. The developmental stage of this family is ever changing and growing. I believe family is in both the times as couple and parental years of family development.
Family Systems Tools Report Learning Team D: Julie Lynn Carswell, Brandee Lopez, Chanda Jean Louis, and Toni Taylor BSHS/312 April 24, 2011 Cheryl Ritter Introduction – Chanda Jean-Louis There are a number of appropriate system techniques or tools that therapists professionals use when helping a client. These system techniques are reframing, boundary setting, sculpting, genogram, multi-generation transmission and power gram, which help to facilitate change and break dysfunctional patterns. Each technique has its own approach and the therapists would need to know some things about the client to know which approach would best be beneficial for their client. These tools help the therapists find out how each member of the family sees the problem and to form first impressions of the family’s functioning. Reframing – Brandee Lopez Reframing is a tool used “to facilitate change and break dysfunctional patterns” (Parrott, 2003, p. 378).
Here four child-rearing patterns were identified permissive: parents who are available as resources but non-intrusive, authoritative: parents who encourage rational explanation to promote independence, nonconformist: parents who provide only a child’s basic needs and are otherwise neglectful and authoritarian: parents who value forceful imposition and obedience. She also brought to attention the capacity of two-way influences between child-parent/primary caregiver relationships. This research could be portrayed as a modification to attachment theory as the “parenting style” the writer feels could also be seen as the “consistent experience of a certain kind of primary attachment relationship” which was at the very foundation of Bowlbsy attachment theory as he viewed this to be a key component in the development of the
