The Paradox Of Choice Why More Is Less by Barry Schwartz is a book based on the psychology of the choices people make based on the number of choices given. The rich west spends too much time on trivial choices. This is true because based on the research of Mr. Schwartz, giving people too many choices can actually lessen their satisfaction of their decision. For example in chapter one it talks about shopping and how our ancestors created this to exchange goods for money. But now that we have shopping malls and so many choices, people go to the mall and there are so many choices that people do not purchase what they really want because they never have an opportunity to see it. I believe that the more choices we are faced with then the harder it is to make a decision and eventually we just go with a gut feeling or a previous choice we have had before. There is an emphasis on the relationship between well-being and choice throughout this book. It seems to show its face in every chapter and in every example. According the Barry Schwartz most people will avoid choices unless they absolutely have to. I disagree with this because people are faced with hard decisions and choices everyday and have to make them quickly without processing the outcomes. Many people are also generally bad at making choices, I believe that this has an impact on the way people react when they see weird choices. For example it is hard to not judge someone when you see them cross dressing and acting like the opposite sex. A specific way of creating choices was designed by Barry Schwartz. He says that you must figure out your goals, evaluate those goals, list the options, figure out which options best meet your goals, and make a choice, then use the consequences of that choice to inform later choices. I feel like this is way to tedious of a process just to figure out something as simple as what a
