The media likes to capture rock musicians using drugs at wild parties and acting irresponsible to get attention from people and increase magazine sales and ratings. I consider musicians to be artists who use music as a form of expression. The majority of their actions are to uphold certain image expectations from their fan base. Rock stars are expected to act wild and crazy always engaging in scandals to keep their fans wanting more. While a majority of these people are addicts with psychological issues who usually die from overdoses of illicit drugs many actually have families and are regular normal people when they are not in the spotlight.
According to him, the constant spreading of fears of just about anything and anyone is benefiting some large corporations as well as the authorities in place. In his view, America is controlled by fear. New waves of terrors and potential social alienation are penetrating the collective psyche, happily exacerbated by the corporate media. People just do this because of their insecurity, fear, jealousy, hate, or because of a crime of any size they have committed. Though the possibilities of reasons are almost endless, it depends on the situation and the people that do shun. Shunning of any form has caused many people in our society to suffer and feel neglected on a daily basis. Marie Antoinette was an Austrian princess who married to King Louis XVI in 1774 during the times of the Great Fear and Reign of Terror in France. Due to various motives, she ended up spending millions of dollars on herself instead of paying off France’s debt.
The purpose of the SOX Act in response to the fraudulent and misleading activities of large corporations such as Enron, Health South, Xerox, Global Crossing, and almost one thousand publicly traded companies. Fraud is defined as “a dishonest act by an employee that results in personal benefit to the employee at a cost to the employer” (Kimmel, Weygandt, & Kieso, 2011). The afore mentioned companies and many others committed fraud when they willingly published false and/or deceptive financial statements making their companies look like they were making huge profits, therefore causing their stock prices to soar and enticing the public to by more and more shares of their companies. Unfortunately, when the truth came out, the fraudulent actions of a few resulted in the loss of almost $5 trillion of stock market value and an undetermined amount for stockholders. Because of this fraudulent action, Congress had no choice but to intervene and pass legislation that would curtail this illegal
For example, the tabloids put out crazy stories of made up things just to get people interested enough to buy their paper. Such as the pictures of Michael Jackson's baby, the tabloids showed pictures of a baby, claiming that it was Michaels's baby. When in fact, it was not even his. The press also gets too involved in people's public and private lives. Though, people do have the right of privacy, the press has ways to get around it with their right of freedom and their freedom of technology usage.
Source 15 backs up this point; it’s message is that the media has shown the royal families true colours, albeit very bland colours. It tells us that the media revealed that the hype over the monarchy was somewhat exaggerated and they weren’t really worth peoples excitement. We can also see this in the TV show “It’s A Royal Knockout” which was a great embarrassment to the monarchy. Source 16 both agrees and disagrees with this point. It tells us that the nation was very distraught after the death of Princess Diana, who was intensely followed by the media.
