Describe the different types of teams that operate within a selected Uniformed Public Service Within the Police Force there are different types of teams that help them to operate in a controlled environment. These teams include, permanent, temporary, formal and informal. In this document I will be describing each type of team and how they work within the Police Force, describing the benefits of each type of team and describing the types of teamwork activities that can be used throughout the service. Permanent teams perform on a permanent basis and are not forgotten once the task is accomplished. Within the Police force the following teams, the human resources team, operation team and the administration team always function effectively throughout the year and therefore are permanent teams.
They enable you to provide a good quality service working within the legal framework and most importantly aim to keep you and the individuals you support, safe from danger or harm. To implement agreed ways of working you follow the Policies and Procedures and the service users care plan, where the management of the individual's daily care needs are agreed and documented. It is extremely important to have up to date agreed ways of working as there may be changes in policies within the law. Our company may have to implement them to help protect the vulnerable. You have a duty to keep service users safe by following policies, procedures and working within your job role.
However it is important to understand that not all teams evolve smoothly. Team cohesion within the police force is essential for a successful outcome because it is important for all members in different ranks to work together for example police constable, police sergeant, inspector, chief inspector all work together on a case to receive positive outcome because they each have different roles and responsibilities in which are important. This again leads to positive team cohesion because the team works together to complete the task
Each of these strengths are necessary as servant leader as not only should you provide guidance but be actively engaged, technically competent, and tactically able to complete the work assigned. Weaknesses The team also evaluated items 3 and 4 as weakness. The capacity to solve project problems and the willingness to cooperate with others (if not at meetings then cooperation would be difficult). Although as a team member my attendance was not an issue, my weakness for a team that wants to simply process the task is perceived as uncooperative or not willing to problem solve. In order for engagement to occur, it is imperative that diversity of thought be utilized to ensure
unit 21 1.1 The impact that theories and models could have on group work practise is certain models could make the group stronger and more formed, by bringing out strengths and abilities of group members. Also giving other group members the opportunity to gain knowledge in certain areas where they were unsure. The possible negative outcome is that it could cause conflict and tension within the group, leading to the inability to complete group tasks. 1.2 To form and maintain a cohesive and effective group the best way is to ensure that there is no conflict within the group causing any problems or tension. Ensure that there is a team leader that is willing and able to lead the group to success and is willing to accept the help from other team members should they need any, the team leader should listen to the group and take their thoughts an opinions on board as with this the team will be more successful and have better outcomes.
Immediate and Long Term Proactive Problem Solving- The community police officer will sustain contact with the law abiding citizens in the community, so we can all together explore solutions to neighborhood concerns and thoughts on how to improve the community. As an officer we must go above and beyond to protect our community by making those necessary arrests, and problem solving to come up with new incorporations within our department. 5. Ethics, Legality, Responsibility and Trust- Community policing implies a new contract between police and citizens of the community. This relationship of trust, created by bringing a positive impact to police work, and
A sense of humor appears irrelevant but sometimes a little joke with the team can go a long way. What is your personal philosophy of leadership? The leader must be part of the team he or she is leading. Leaders have to listen to the team’s opinions and ideas and analyze the situation prior to make any decision because the leader’s decisions affect the entire team as well as each of the team members. The leader must always think about the most good for the most people while still working toward a common goal.
When working in a team setting I find myself wanting to start ahead of everyone else and leading the group to obtain the best results. The D style personality weaknesses can include when I over step authority due to control issues. My listening skills are often poor in certain situations, which results to overlooking the important issues. The dominance personality style person is motivated by new challenges and achieving goals. Dominance personality leaders are humble but enjoy verbal recognition as well as rewards.
Another approach to increase collaborative relationships between the community and law enforcement is police presence in the community. The positioning officers closer to the community members will improve their knowledge of the area (Shusta, Levine, Wong, Olson, Harris, 2008, pg. 34) and the inhabitants. Many departments require their officers to live within the county or town which they serve and this requirement not only provides officers the knowledge of the community they serve but also fosters the building of relationships with the neighbors in the community enhancing their knowledge
However, I still struggle with certain aspects of group communication such as dominating conversations and giving open-ended answers. While reflecting upon my past experiences as a group member, I hope to recognize both my strengths and weaknesses, as well as set goals for myself to become a better group member. Whether it was for a school project or simply playing a game, for as long as I can remember I have always taken initiative and stepped up to be leader of the group. Some may view this characteristic as bossy and a weakness, but I have always viewed leadership as a strength. Leadership not only entails being “in charge” of a group, but it also includes organizing group meetings, planning agendas, listening to other group members for improvement, and decision-making.
