I agree with the reductions in costs, even in a medical error. I liked the way they conducted the research and how they handled their findings, yet when they found that EMRs did not really prevent medical errors and to not increase patient safety, I had to disagree. If an EMR is correctly formatted and records are kept precisely and consistently, then the safety of a patient would have to increase. EMRs keep track of medication allergies, mental disorders, chronic illnesses, current and pat medications and procedures, all this would be a tool to correctly prescribe, treat and care for a patient, reducing medical errors just by having knowledge of their
Unit 23 – P5 Acupuncture – Advantages Acupuncture is a treatment that has no side effects and you won’t need any recovery you can go home straight home and you won’t have to wait around for a discharge. Another advantage is that acupuncture is suitable for all most everyone regardless of their physical condition, however if you suffer from a bleeding disorder or you are taking blood thinners. As well as this some people find it quite relaxing and enjoy going. Acupuncture as well as providing a physical relief it also provides a mental one as well. Another advantage of acupuncture is that it is a natural substitute to medicine; this is because it reduces pain naturally.

They usually stop at the lungs and do not have problems arise. Another complication that can happen is phlebitis, which is when the vein becomes swollen and painful. There are two kinds of phlebitis, which are superficial phlebitis and deep vein phlebitis. Superficial phlebitis is when the vein becomes inflamed, which can become painful and swollen (Figure 3). Superficial phlebitis is easily treated with warm compresses and anti-inflammatory medication.
However, the basis of lupus treatment involves corticosteroids, a drug related to cortisol, a natural anti-inflammatory hormone. These are potent drugs, so doctors must seek the lowest dosage with the greatest benefits. Finally, immunosuppressives may be used for patients with kidney or central nervous system problems. These drugs restrain the overcharged immune system by hindering the production of immune cells. Although the symptoms of lupus can be uncomfortable and the complications life threatening, the disease can be managed and those suffering from it can maintain a high quality of life
1.1 OUTLINE THE MOST COMMON MEDICATIONS USED TO TREAT SYMPTOMS OF DEMENTIA • Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (Donopezil, Rivastigamine, Galantamine) – they are licenced to treat mild to moderate cases of Alzheimer’s disease and can be used in some cases of Levi-Body’s dementia. They are particularly effective in treating halucinations • Memantine hydrochloride – works by blocking the effect of a chemical in the brain and is normally used for severe cases of Alzheimer’s disease • Antipsychotics (Haloperidol, Quetiapine, Risperidone) – these are the medicines to treat aggression and agitation in dementia patients • Antidepressants (Citalopram, Sertraline) – they treat depression and anxieties that are not uncommon symptoms for patients with dementia • Analgesic medications (Paracetamol, Codeine, Morphine) – they are used commonly to treat pain (or possible pain) in dementia patients showing signs of anxiety, agitation and challenging behaviour • Antibiotics – used to treat any possible viral, bacterial or fungal infections 1.2 DESCRIBE HOW COMMONLY USED MEDICATIONS AFFECT INDIVIDUALS WITH DEMENTIA Every medication has usually two possible effects – positive and negative. Positive effects treat the illness or symptoms that the medication is licenced and prescribed for. Negative effects are the ‘side effects’ which can occur while taking the medication. The side effects are always stated on the leaflet that comes with the medication or can be found in BNF.
Another advantage is the accessibility of the records. Information can be accessed by the physicians remotely. It is easier to send electronic records from one doctor’s office to another. This is useful when a patient has to visit more than physician in the same hospital; one won’t have to wait long for their records to be transferred’ Electronic Health Records reduces the likelihood of errors. This is because there would be no illegible handwritings or spelling mistakes.
Has one ever wondered if these medications are sanitary and sterile. The health care field is widely spread and its main concept is cleanliness to reduce infections, diseases and disorders. We must start the process of cleanliness with the environment and of our surroundings to prevent the spread and cause of these illnesses. The counters, credit card machine and the handling of money are not the only contaminated items a person deals with when in these facilities. Pills are dropped on the floor, touched by pharmacists and technicians hands.
