Abortion was legalized in 1973, and since then approximately one million and five hundred thousand babies have been aborted each year. Abortion in medical textbook is technically defined as the termination of a pregnancy in any way before the fetus has reached the stage of viability. Many of the women who had the abortion done were not told about the procedure or the risks involved, and not informed about the development of the baby that is inside of them. Nancy E. Meyers, a media relations director of the National Right to Life Committee, argues that abortion should be illegal. She goes on to say that 1.5 million abortions are done annually in the U.S., and she believes this number is much too high.
The traditional one is when they go inside the uterus and suck the baby out piece by piece. The medical abortion is the one when they give the mother a pill and the beginning and it kills all the nutrients to the baby causing and miscarriage, then the 2nd step process is to take a pill two days later which removes the dead fetus from the body. There have been facts that a pregnancy can be terminated at any time while being pregnant, but many doctors will
Each girl that was interviewed was pregnant, and every one of those girls had different opinions as to how they responded to the act and or thought of abortion. Barbara was one of the girls that were being interviewed in this documentary. In the documentary, she was a 17 year old mother with a 2 year old son. The father of her child was a violent man, which eventually led to them breaking up. When Barbara found out she was pregnant another time, she felt an abortion would be the best decision because she had little money to support her and her son already, and her mom said that she would not help her daughter with to have another baby.
At the current rates nearly one-third of American women will have an abortion. The same study states that on average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion. 3/4 of women’s first reason is because having the baby would interfere with work, school, or other responsibilities. 3/4 of women’s second reason is because they cannot afford a child. 1/2 of women’s third reason is because they are having marital issues.
Some people may argue that if a baby is conceived by either rape or incest, or the mother will have major health problems that it makes all abortions ok. The truth is that these account for a very small percentage of all abortions. 1% of abortions are because of rape or incest and 4% is because of health problems to the
Outlaw Abortion Life, most people believe that life begins when an organism has an active heart rate. Many believes that this begins at 5 weeks of gestation. At 5 weeks, the fetal heart will accelerate at a rate of 3.3 beats per day for the next month. According to Jennet C. Hopson, Science text book writer and instructor at San Francisco State University, fetuses are capable of feeling pain by week 12 to 13. I feel that abortion is wrong because it kills innocent children and I believe that all living beings should have the right to live.
Running Head: ABORTION, A PROBLEM IN AMERICA 1 Abortion, A Problem in America Today ABORTION, A PROBLEM IN AMERICA 2 Abortion, A Problem in America Today Today in America, a horrific problem exists. It is the leading cause of death in our nation, and most people do not even realize it. It involves the murder of thousands of innocent babies every year. This atrocity is called abortion, and according to the Movement for a Better America, it kills, on average, 3,425 babies each day in America. When most people think of abortion, they believe that they are simply removing an unwanted fetus from their womb and an unwanted child from their future.
Abortion – A Person’s a Person Abortion is not only a medical procedure; it is a hotly debated topic of moral, philosophical, religious, and political differences. Very few topics in our country’s history have so completely galvanized and polarized our nation’s populace than has the topic of abortion. Since the Supreme Court decision of Roe vs Wade in 1973, an estimated 39 million pregnancy terminations have been performed in the United States, making this procedure a very common medical procedure, compared to an estimated 8 million appendectomies (Addiss et al, 1990) over the same period and 21 million tonsillectomies (Fallon, n.d.). However, while legal and common in practice, it does not follow that the procedure
Opinions on abortion vary for numerous reasons, but under certain circumstances, abortion may be the most appropriate action to take. “Approximately one-half of the 6.4 million pregnancies in 2001 in the United States were unplanned”(Henshaw, pg 90). That is about three million unplanned pregnancies. “These three million unplanned pregnancies include 1.3 million pregnancies that ended in abortion; 1.4 million live births that women reported were unplanned at the time of conception; and 411,000 miscarriages of unplanned pregnancies” (Henshaw, pg 91). Who really experience these unplanned pregnancies?
Camille Peri states, “ You look at the ultrasounds and there’s a fetus with a heartbeat and then after the procedure, there’s the fetus, usually in pieces, in a dish” (Peri 2). Partial-birth abortion are performed on fetuses that are five or six months old. The doctors used scissors to cut a hole in the base of the baby’s skull so that its brain can be removed and pass easily through the birth canal. This cruel insane silent abortion is consider a sin under god’s eye and won’t have pardon of him. The fetus is an innocent human being that didn’t ask to come to life but it’s taken away form inhumane hands of doctors.
