The arguments that come out of this book as delievered by Jon Krakauer center around Pat’s death while serving in the Army. Arguments arose about the way the government portrayed Pat Tillman’s death to his family and to the rest of the world. Pat Tillman’s death originally wasn’t accurately disclosed as being caused by friendly fire, in which it was, but rather it was told to have been caused by the natural evils of combat and of our countries enemies. President Bush used Pat’s story as a way to promote his administration’s foreign policy. Thus leaving American’s to become conspirious about the truths of war and ethics in the Federal Government.

One of our Army generals, Alexander, said this program threatened 54 terrorist attacks but all in reality it only stopped one. The people in congress do not want to look soft on terrorism so they say nothing about all these underhanded tactics. So the government has been spying on us for many years and not telling us one thing about it. This is treading on our civil liberties while we just sit back and let it happen. “Can you name one law that would keep guns out of the hands of criminals” (Webster)? Assault Weapons Ban: “Handguns are used in about 90% of all firearm murders” (Webster). No legitimate study in the U.S. has ever shown that gun control has any positive impact on crime. People want to believe gun control will reduce crime, but the truth is that gun control will never work. History has shown that gun control will never work.

There's only one way to get real gun control: Disarm the thugs and the criminals, lock them up and if you don't actually throw away the key, at least lose it for a long time... The United States homicide rate in 25% higher when compared to murder rates in other high-income countries, therefore there is clearly something that other countries are doing that we are not. In Canada, for one to get a gun, he or she must have a license that takes 60 days to obtain. They also must take a gun training course, and then should pass a universal background check that focuses on mental, criminal and addiction history. In the United Kingdom, semi-automatic rifles, pump-action rifles, machine guns, and any firearm that has a barrel less than 30 centimeters in length are banned (Laville et al.). But most importantly, for us to adapt some of the laws that make our fellow high-income country’s homicide rate so low, the Congress needs to discuss this issue, without the interference of bribes or money, but by simply exploring the facts and the results of our gun
Foreign engagement missions are enough to justify SOCOM’s 18,000 operators — indeed, SOCOM is overwhelmed and wants the big Army to help out — but Congress won’t fund hundreds of thousands of conventional soldiers to do engagement missions alone. Conversely, if the Army’s mission is purely to “kill people and break things,” many policymakers would argue that’s done more safely and effectively from the air, not by putting thousands of young Americans on the ground. If combat power and human factors are not inseparable, then you might as well rely on small SOCOM teams for engagement, rely on drones, cruise missiles, and stealthy strike aircraft for lethal action, and slash the regular Army to the bone. Mr. Gilmer, the prosecutor, used Tom’s race and physical strength to imply that Tom was just another stereotypical black man who targeted a fair skinned female. Mr. Gilmer hinted that because Tom was strong and coloured, Tom would rape and beat a white woman. Not only was Tom discriminated against on the stand, but after Tom was sent to the slammer, Tom was killed and shot at multiple times after he was already dead. “ ‘Seventeen bullet holes in him. They [the police] didn’t have to shoot him that much.’ ” (235).
One question being asked is how effective a ban on assault weapons would be in curbing gun violence. "Whether or not the assault weapons ban would make any difference is an open question," political commentator David Horsey writes in the Los Angeles Times. "Even if it were law, it would not affect the 3.5 to 4 million military-type rifles that are already in private hands. Still, Feinstein and numerous military leaders and police chiefs argue it is patently crazy that such powerful weapons are so easily available." The political reality, Mr. Horsey said, is that gun-control legislation will not pass Congress without the support of the NRA - or at least greater bipartisan support.
The reason that they put this in the constitution was that they weren’t sure if the government would be correct so they put that in if the people we ever being oppressed then they had the right and the duty to overthrow said oppression and put in place the form of government that they saw fit. This is yet another reason why guns are not the problem they are simply a tool. All you here in the news is the negatives about guns, for example how many times have you woken up turned on the news and saw that there was a shooting last night. They don’t tell you that there a millions of Americans that didn’t shoot anybody last night. This is just another example of people putting the blame where it doesn’t belong.
