Introduction 1.1 Vietnam International Commercial Bank Overview Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank, abbreviated as Vietnam International Bank (VIB), was founded on 18th September 1996, with its head office based in Hanoi. By 20th October 2011, after 15 years of operation, VIB has become one of the leading commercial joint stock banks in Vietnam, with total assets of more than VND 100.000 trillions. The bank’s charter capital is now VND 4.250 trillions while its shareholders’ equity is more than VND 8.200 trillions. Currently, the bank has 4,300 staffs working at 160 branches and transaction offices in 27 key provinces/cities across Vietnam. In 2011, VIB's performance results remained modest with total assets of 96.95 trillions VND, total mobilized capital of 57.489 trillions VND; outstanding loans of 43.497 trillions VND, shareholders’ equity of 8.16 trillion VND - a rise of 23.8% compared to 2010, pre-provision profits of 1.823 billion VND, pre-tax profits of 849 billion VND, credit risk reserves of 974 billion VND and the capital adequacy ratio of 14.48%.
