Organizational Psychology Define Organizational Psychology Organizational psychology uses scientific inquiry methods to intervene and study in organizations. “ Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology is both the study of behavior in organizational and work settings and the application of the methods, facts, and principles of psychology to individuals and groups in organizational and work settings” (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Inc., 2013). The Database approach will be used to solve problems and processes and the data comes from forms like surveys, interviews, and observations, and in some cases organizational records. The collection of data is done after a question of research has been put into place, and the design of the research will be formulated. This will consist of effective and appropriate methods used in collecting data (Britt & Jex, 2008). Depending on what kind of research he or she is doing would determine which sources he or she will use. If it is business research a variety of techniques and methods will be used during the collection process. Whether is it is a field experiment, census survey, or laboratory experiment there are pro’s and con’s associated with each one. However, when choosing a certain method can depends on how much time you can devote money and your objective in what you want the outcome to be (Britt & Jex, 2008). When organizational psychology takes place it does so in a office type setting. When this takes place and human behavior begins to be viewed by means of communication, research, and various other ways of data collection this takes things to a whole new different level.
