B-TEC HND Business Unit 4 Organizations & Behavior Introduction The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate an understanding of individual and group behavior in organizations and to examine current theories and their application in managing behavior in the workplace. Task 1 1.1 Compare and contrast three different organizational structures and cultures. Below is my comparison chart comparing three organizational styles. In the first diagram the ticks do not indicate "very good" but rather "very present" in terms of a 'characteristic'. - COMPARISON CHART - Organizational Structures Divisional, natuarlly is highly formal compared to the Simple and Matrix only because it is deployed where more people are concerned. The absence of any ticks for Matrix is not ment to indicate "poor" but rather informal which would be highly beneficial to a dynamic company that needed to remain robust and adaptable. A divisional structure organizes its divisions according to the prevailing demands of its markets, customers or its production line. Unlike the functional organizational structure, where customer satisfaction falls within the remit of multiple cells within the framework the divisional structure promotes a higher degree of specialization within each division, equipping and autotomizing respectfully, to swiftly react to challenges within their specific business environment. Therefore, each division is run as a company within a company and enjoys likewise autonomy to cope with stresses placed on it by outside forces. One aspect of this is the subset of differential and specialized SBU's (Special Business Units) meeting the demands of different customers, markets or productions.
