The art of shopping has evolved over the years. Shopping as we know it has transformed from simple engagement in shopping for necessities to impulse shopping, and of course as therapy. However for the last decade, shopping has taken on a new meaning. The birth of online shopping has given the word shopping a new meaning. The internet is responsible for bringing the majority of stores to our finger tips. My aim in this essay is to compare and contrast online and traditional shopping. Traditional shopping entails making plans to go in search of what it is you are in need of or want. Going shopping with friends will allow you to spend time with them and allow them to give you honest feedback on whether what you are shopping for is ideal for you. It also involves driving or walking from store to store to find what you are looking for. Traditional shopping also have you spend money on food and drinks not just for yourself but for whoever else is with you. For instance, when shopping for clothes, it usually takes almost an entire day to try on different outfits at each store that you visit. Being able to try on what you intend to buy is one of the biggest advantages of traditional shopping. The disadvantages of traditional shopping include the heavy traffic, the huge crowds, and the long lines at the cash register. Additionally, the number of available specialised stores is limited to a small geographic area. These stores also have closing times that usually force the shopper to abandon shopping at a particular time. Online shopping on the other hand provides convenience. While those who opt for the traditional way of shopping are trying to beat heavy traffic, huge crowds and long lines at the cash register, you the online shopper is relaxed at home on the patio with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, with your laptop scanning the web for what
