This is the only part of the excerpt where Crystal tries to attach on to his audiences emotions. In the quote, Crystal uses the words “Global Village” because they are filled with feelings of friendship and world peace. These feelings are very important because they make the reader feel a connection to Crystal’s argument. The writer also provides an example of how he personally can connect with people all over the world. Crystal talks about how “It is just as easy for me to send a message from my house in the small town of Holyhead, North Wales, to a friend in Washington as it is to get the same message to someone living just a few streets away from me.” (358).

Linda Saelee April 11, 2012 Eng 5-Critical Thinking Journals: Blink (Intro, Chapters 1, 2 & 3) Introduction: Passage: “The third and most important task of this book is to convince you that our snap judgments and first impressions can be educated and controlled. I know that’s hard to believe…Just as we can teach ourselves to think logically and deliberately, we can also teach ourselves to make better snap judgments. In Blink you’ll meet doctors and generals and coaches and furniture designers and musicians and actors and car salesman and countless others, all of whom are very good at what they do and all of whom owe their success, at least in part, to the steps they have taken to shape and manage and educate their unconscious reactions.

When he talks to Holly its, “Good morning sunshine” and with Chris he acts cool, “Hey how’s it going man.” It helps him to build better friendships with his us which are pretty much his second family. He really cares about us as people and he shows it by telling us how we can use what we learn in the real world. “Josh when am I ever going to use getting references outside of vector?” “Well you know when you want to get a girls number you’ll know how to ask for it in the right way to where you get it.” We laugh about it and a lot of things that go on around the office. He always makes it fun for us by setting up games and competitions. One game we do is to set up demos and we have two captains and they pick people to be on their team.
Rogers’ “person centered therapy” became the platform for the type of therapy most counselors use today. Rogers believed “we are the best experts on ourselves” and noticed that most people tended to use the phrases “I feel” and “I don’t understand what’s happening” (McLeod, 2008, p.1). Taking a more humanistic approach allows the client more freedom to guide his or her sessions and be more open with his or her therapist. Rogers believed therapists needed a warmer approach. The therapist shows authentic expression (or congruence) to his or her client and does not maintain a “blank slate” expression.
Luther Essay James M. Kittelson did an excellent job portraying Luther’s whole life in a very orderly fashion and in excellent detail, both the good things that happened in Martin Luther’s life, but also some of the bad things that not the average school teaches during Reformation. The exact ordering of everything that took place is in this book is impeccable. The way Kittelson added the little headings on almost every other page made this book a very easy read. The headings alone are a series of accurate accounts that happened in Luther’s Life. There was usually always at least one reference note in every section, which makes me believe that Kittelson really took his time when writing this book.
