His personality was just really entertaining. He could be calm, but as soon as he lost his temper, you shouldn’t cross him. He was extremely academically based. He was very worried about his grades and studies. The author’s vocabulary and diction was another thing I really liked.
The rest of the movie builds on the contrast of Valentin’s earlier displeasure of meeting his daughter to his later endless adoration to Maggie. After raising Maggie for six years, Maggie and Valentin created an unconventional but delightful life together forcing Valentin to overcome many of his fears for Maggie’s sake. Derbez therefore, is leaving a message to audience that life will leave you unprepared and scared but you can never run away from those fears and will someday face them. This film made me think about my family. Valentin’s father was a famous Acapulco cliff diver.
Even if there is no subtitle I can still understand what the film talking about. Now I am going to talk about the plot of the Steamboat Bill, Jr. William Canfield Sr. is the owner of the unpopular steamboat. He is waiting for his college-educated son (William Canfield Jr.) who he (William Canfield Sr.) has never seen since he (William Canfield Jr.) was a baby. He hoped that his son is the stronger man that can help him to compete with his competitor John James King, who is the owner of the King’s steamboat, which boat is brand new and more comfortable. But when he saw his son he felt disappointed because his son looks thin and weak.
The narrator’s delivery from start to finish keeps the reader off balance, thus adding to the frightening style and evolution of the story. By using numerous exclamation punctuation and Gilman gives the narrator an optimistic tone. To compliment this, the narrator also comments on her husband’s love for her and how smart he is. This all conflicts with the reality of which she is describing, where she has severe depression and disagrees with her husbands method of treatment. The upbeat narration gives the reader an initial sense of optimism yet as the story progresses and
It’s easy to find a cheesy book that is so cheesy it isn’t even funny and books that are so serious that you could read the entire novel cover to cover without a single facial expression. This novel is just the perfect bit of seriousness and comedy at the same time. Lastly, this book is educational. What would be the point of the book if it didn’t teach a lesson? This novel teaches some important and valuable life lessons that can change the way people are viewed, and help one to understand why they behave the way they do.
One of the expectations of a successful novel is ‘Entertainment’ this is needed to keep a reader amused and not bored with the book. This can be done by providing many funny events, relationship highs and lows and of coarse drama. This is clearly shown throughout the whole book, but a main point of interest was at the beginning of the book when the author creates a humorous an witty situation when Josie is reading ‘Hot Pants’ magazine in
Swift’s repetitive creation of his extreme mental images, which appeal to one’s senses, gives the reader a false opinion about him, but subsequently becomes beneficial to his overall essay. The use of imagery in “A Modest Proposal” definitely is exceptionally vivid, and as a result, stirs up an emotional response in the reader (pathos). Swift’s intention to using imagery in his essay is to not only get dramatic reactions from his readers, but to also persuade them so much that they are agreeing with his point of view. In his essay, he offers many different descriptive images in which portray the dehumanization of children and women using words such as “breeders,” “flesh,” “carcass,” and “meat”(1026-1027). One of the disturbing images that Swift creates for his audience dehumanizes children by referring to them as pigs which would be roasted then worn as fancy gloves for females, and as boots for men.
I like to think of it as the " oh what the _ _ _ _!" factor (all those reading, theres more than one word to put into those blanks! =P) Its something you don't expect to happen, and it makes you want to keep reading, because now everything has just changed. Whatever the reader had in mind, it's all out the window because now something new just came up. I like surprises in books, much more enjoyable to
In another, an Indian science teacher explains an experiment to students, then snaps, "Why are you standing simply there?" But the scene that seems to get audiences worked up most shows Brittany and friends watching Grey's Anatomy as they study. "For most people, it is eye-opening," says Marc Lampkin, executive director of Strong American Schools, an advocacy group pushing to make education part of the 2008 presidential election. The group's Ed in '08 campaign has screened Two Million Minutes for educators and lawmakers, hoping to get them worked up about global competitiveness. Compton says the film is a surprise hit among high school teachers, who see in it a clear message for students: Work harder.
