ONLINE ELECTRIC VEHICLE (OLEV) PRESENTED BY K.M.AYESHA SHARMIL JAHAN AND S.KIRUTHIKA(II YEAR EEE-A) KONGU ENGINEERING COLLEGE,PERUNDURAI. ABSTRACT As plug-in electric vehicles become more widespread, their charging needs to be coordinated, in order to ensure that capacity constraints are not exceeded. This is becoming particularly critical as new fast-charging technologies are being developed that place additional burden on local transformers. To address this problem, online electric vehicles (OLEV) are introduced. OLEV technology uses inductive coupling and wireless electromagnetic transmission to power electric vehicles (cars, buses, vans, etc.) during operation. The main advantage of the online electric vehicle is that it reduces the dependency of the current battery technology. In particular, we discuss the different technologies used in OLEV , operations and its advantages over electric vehicles. INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE An electric vehicle (EV) also referred to as an electric drive vehicle uses one or more electric motors or traction motors for propulsion. Three main types of electric vehicles exist, those that are directly powered from an external power station, those that are powered by stored electricity originally from an external power source, and those that are powered by an on-board electrical generator, such as an internal combustion engine (a hybrid electric vehicle) or a hydrogen fuel cell. EVs include electric cars, electric trains, electric lorries, electric aeroplanes, electric boats, electric motorcycles and scooters and electric spacecraft. EVs first came into existence in the mid-19th century, when electricity was among the preferred methods for motor vehicle propulsion, providing a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved
