These technologies included new farming implements and methods, Railroads, steam engines, and the telegraph, to name a few. This was the beginning of what would come to be known as the Industrial Revolution. There are several reasons why the Industrial Revolution Began in England. Britain had many resources, including timber and steel and iron ore. It also had a stable government, which allowed for the people to begin industrializing in the first place, harbors for trade, a very large population resulting in a very large workforce, and many water ways throughout the country to transport materials and products as well as to use for water power at mills.
Wealth was gained from the Mediterranean trade, Silk Road, manufactured goods, and the colonization of land benefitted the empires greatly. The wealth helped establish cities and capitals, promoting economic and social change, and it was also distributed through the elites down to the other classes. The elites in the Han were able to afford silk garments, eat pork, drink aged wine, and buy more land from the poor. Also due to the wealth of expanding of the iron and silk industries, they were able to invent paper, which enable Chinese scribes to write more, and were less expansive than silk. The distinction the rich and poor hardened as the economy went up.
Some products require extra handling care and do not need to be rushed with delivering whereas other products may not require so much care but needs to be delivered as soon as possible. Each delivery method has its own advantages and disadvantages. The first method of transport used by the John Lewis Partnership is by water. Ships are used to transport products on sea. Firstly, ships can carry large cargo, which means that John Lewis and Waitrose can receive their stocks in bulk rather than have multiple small deliveries which cost more.
The major step towards development of the Silk Road was because of the Chinese Emperor Wu Di. He became interested in developing commercial relationship with urban civilizations around the world and so he was influenced by them. This not only encouraged the Chinese to trade more but also showed them new things they had not seen before. This effected the Chinese civilization because this was a major step toward success in the future and many things changed because of trade. They now had different diets from which they could live a more leisure life.
Because this philosophy was connected with divinity from nature, China managed to maintain stable control politically. However in Rome, their idea or living and viewing society varied slightly. Civilians in Rome believed in having a patron-client relationship. A patron-client relationship was a relationship that established a bond between families and individuals. This bond lead to Roman citizens to be much more supportive of people, and created an organized society.
The high medieval period in Europe was dominated by a succession of royal governors, an elite class who controlled the political landscape. Their rule was facilitated by a number of factors; first, by the force of their armies they maintained control of their respective territories, quelling any challenge or rebellion. Second, they performed the function of delivering justice and were thus a valuable source of law and order for their populace. Third, the support of the church, which influenced much of the population, inspired the belief that kings were a representative of god and had a god given right to rule. Fourth, their use of the feudal system, as well as the administration which accompanied it enabled them to keep their kingdoms and subjects in check.
Marco travels to many other cities and towns of China and is able to experience the great beauty and many riches the county has. Marco also mentions how the people throughout the country are loyal and faithful to the Khan. He is able to observe the many different customs of the people from each town and he mentions the variety of living conditions and trading goods. One of the cities Marco is fascinated by is also one where merchants travel to for trade. This is the city of Kin-sai, it is the capitol of Manji.
An example of a contrast would be the technology in Egypt and China. In Egypt, in order to assess and collect taxes, the Egyptians developed a system of written numbers for counting, adding, and subtracting. In China, the way of writing can be used as technology. People could learn the same system of writing, even if their spoken language is different. This helped unify a large diverse land making it simpler to communicate with other people in China; it could possibly promote trade, or anything else that could affect economy.
Maritime trade, Indian Ocean trade was an easier, cheaper and best way to trade because a lot more different goods can be traded. Trade was not limited to only luxurious items as the trade on the Silk
Han Introduction: This was not the Golden Age of China, but life was very good for many of the people because of the demand for Chinese silk. The creation of the "silk road" - the trade routes across the fierce deserts - allowed trade to flourish more easily with the Roman Empire. People bonded together into one civilization during Han times. They had a common culture. Even in remote sections, district officials copied the manner of the imperial court.
