The median age for the population of Dyer County is 36.5 years of age. Looking back at the US Census report from the year 2000 the population was 38, 335 and has only increased by 765 residents over the last twelve years. This is not indicative of a growing community but of one that is maintaining the status quo. In researching the economic status of Dyer County, it is clear according to an article in the local newspaper, Dyersburg State Gazette dated November 1, 2011 that the unemployment rate for the county is 13.7 percent. This dire statistic earns Dyers County the title of the eight highest unemployment rate for counties in the state of Tennessee.

Winston and Parson are very different, in so many ways, but they also have a few similarities. In 1894, the people are all in fear of walking wrong, talking wrong, thinking wrong, anything that would be found to have a reason to destroy them. One difference between Winston and Parson was Winston was a loner after his wife had left him, while Parson had a wife and two kids. Parson’s wife had left him, because there was no reason to stay, because every time they tried they couldn’t have children. Parson on the other hand had a wife that was very old, and two children who were determined to help Big Brother find traitors.
Due to her domineering presence this meant that any chance that child A’s mother had of being able to fulfil her role as the primary carer was undermined and must have caused great stress and tension within the family unit. This is picked up on by the child who will often display negative behaviour just before a home visit in the hope that care staff will cancel it. This would remove the burden of saying she doesn’t want to go herself which she feels would be like rejecting her family. This finally leads me to the grandfather who would have been the only male to have been involved in child A’s development but he appears to have taken a very minor role and chose to stay in the background letting his domineering wife pull the family strings. This meant again that child A had no dominant male role model in her life and reinforced the grandmother’s matriarchal role.
The social creation of dependency is about how the elderly depend on the government. This is for things such as pensions and age restricted retirement policies. The effects of these policies are that they single out older people and isolate them in some ways. Because of this elderly people are left feeling worthless and have a low self-esteem as they stand out to be helpless and vulnerable. Because the elderly have a stereotypical image that they are useless they become a focus point as they have negative attitudes towards things and become more dependent on friends, family and social care services.

The New York Times claimed that, “When immigrants do take jobs, they’re hard workers” (Preston and Connelly a1). Therefore, it greatly contributes to America’s retirement system. The presence of immigrants also contributes to America’s long term population growth, necessary to stabilize the overall retirement fund. The Springer Science and Business Media’s journal states that some other countries in the world suffer from the labor shortages and a demographic crunch, in which a very small number of workers will be expected to pay the retirement and health care for elderly people (Gold 409). The ratio of retired people to workers is expected to dramatically increase in the coming decades, which would result in significant changes in the Security System of America’s retirement money.
Also the lack of teacher & student relations has even ruined my generation we feel as though there’s no one to fight for us. Are neighborhood crisis is just as bad as our education crisis and that’s just as bad as our financial crisis. These are the top three issues we face. For some it’s hard to acknowledge experience and use it to humble themselves. Instead we look at the worst and allow it to worry us.
The elderly population suffers immensely from negative portrayals or stereotyping. Media outlets may portray seniors as demented, unable to learn, disease ridden, slow, and have no enthusiasm for life. Media Outlets:
