These cuts the company has to make resulted in employee dissatisfaction. The cabin crew staff has been addressing their demands through these strikes several times. This could means that employees and management do not have strong relationships. The “Front face” of BA is heavily unionised. Thus resulting in employees being unsatisfied with the management of the business which later could impact the businesses relationship with its stakeholder through the recession, however this strategy in the long run could result in employees not losing their jobs as BA are benchmarking their competition who significantly seceding in the recession without tarnishing its relationship with its employees.
An article on CNN.com called “Your cube can kill your career” says it all. With an increasing amount of cubicle workspaces filling offices, our generation needs to be aware of how to act professional in an environment where personal interaction is increasing and privacy is decreasing. Our focus is to inform our peers about some of the major faux pas of working in cubicles, as well as to train them how to deal with problems that arise from working in such close quarters. When you start a job you receive a thick booklet outlining organizational procedures and guidelines, but no where in that book do they cover how to act properly within your office space. Although the rules aren’t written or even strictly enforced at many organizations,
When she began working for the company everybody was nice and supportive of her, but she noticed a high employee turnover amongst those working for top management. She didn't get why her peers would want to leave, they worked in a nice office, the pay was great, the benefits were great, it did not add up. She then explained, as her superiors felt more comfortable with her the mood around the office changed. The topics of conversation seemed to contain more and more sexual overtones, and repeatedly noticed her direct superior attempting to look down her shirt when she would lean over. She felt as if part of her job was to amuse her bosses, and came to see why people were regularly leaving
In this case scenario there is clearly a difference in opinion, while the boss of the company believes he is giving Beauport (his employee) greater opportunities in the company and a chance to succeed in her career by changing her position to marketing research coordinator; Beauport is convinced that she is being sidelined into a “backroom” job, since she is aware of the stereotyping that goes on with women in this industry. Beauport is highly disappointed with the outcome of her hard work, and feels like she is being demoted rather than promoted. The boss knowing he had this position two years prior to becoming boss is both excited and pleased to inform his employee of his wise decision, and is sure his employee would be thankful for the great opportunity. The second symptom present in this scenario is a misinterpretation of body language by Mr. Gilman (the boss) towards Beauport’s reaction to the aforementioned position. When informed about the change in position, Beauport was shocked and so responded with a long pause and a quiet thank you as she left the office.
Ethics Paper MGT498 Ethics Paper One of the biggest things that big named organizations sometimes tend to forget is that when difficult decisions must be made, they affect everyone within that organization. Whether it be budget cuts leading to loss of hours or layoffs, lower stocks percentages for the shareholders or it can even change things positively, and require more production of hiring. Either way, when issues come up and things change, it is important to keep everyone involved well informed and made in the best interest of those directly affected. In the business world, corporations have a responsibility to the employees as well as the stakeholders to be ethical in their decision making by staying true to their beliefs and behavior to society. When unethical decisions are made, everyone involved in the corporation and its well being are affected in a negative way and will jeopardize the well being of the business.
UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX | Case Study: Captain Edith Strong | | | Matthew Kramer | 8/8/2014 | | People in today’s workplace no matter where that is need to feel appreciated and wanted. This is no different in a police force where the work its self is highly strenuous and time consuming. If employees are not made to feel like they are appreciated or doing a good job then morale and work effort will suffer as a result. In a philosophical approach Captain Strong needs to get the pulse of the department if you will. Meaning she needs to find out what the problems are and their root and find a way to be able to at least come to a happy medium with everyone on the issues.
Working conditions and treatment in the work place at this time were harsh, poor and inadequate. Reforms that had been introduced were frequently ignored by employers. The hours were extensive and they worked for little pay. Yet the workers did not complain in fear of being sacked. Even though unions had moved to improve the rights, justice and conditions of the workplace, it was not surprising that many workers were sacked for simply joining the unions.
Unfortunately the recent report tells us that only by 2095 we can achieve the full gender equality on the workplace. However, of course, we could try and shorten that time. It is obviously important to have not only males in the business world, because this way we miss out on many opportunities that women could bring to the world, due to the different perception of values. When for example men are driven by mostly material success, women tend to build up relationships and friendly environment on the workplace. However, sometimes emotions and nurturing can affect the business in a negative manner.

Mann, (2008) giving some insight on the issue of sexual harassment in today’s workplace, sexual harassment has not been taken seriously as it should, despite the wide spread publicity about perils of sexual harassment, it is shown that many businesses in the United States have not properly addressed the problems. Recent news indicated that sexual harassment has hit its highest level of management, even thou businesses are aware of that sexual harassment exists, they are not sure what to do about the situation, this has resulted into fear of employer liability for
He was then forced into taking jobs for a newspaper, The Toronto Star. He was sent away on frequent journalist trips, this took a toll on their relationship, as well as Hadley’s emotional and mental state. What predictably happens in abusive relationships is something corrupt happens, for example a huge fight, but then something is done to make the situation better. This is the continuous cycle. The women more often then not stay around because the men are typically flawless at the beginning; they treat the women the way they need and want to be treated.
