Of Mice And Men Chapter One Question 1 Summarise what has happened in this chapter using the space below. You can use bullet points or continuous writing. Togeather Lennie and George walked along the river side path, both wearing black shapeless hats. Whist they walked along the riverside path they both carried tight blanket rolls slung over their shoulders. Lennie thought he had lost his work card but George had it the whole time as he didn' trust Lennie with it and thought he'd lose it. If either Lennie or George lost their work cards it meant they would be unable to do any work. Whilst they were out walking Lennie found a dead mouse, he wanted to keep it so he hid it from George. When George realised Lennie was hiding something he demanded Lennie to show him what he had, George then threw away the dead mouse and said to Lennie he couldn't keep it. This upsets Lennie and then George upsets him even more by saying he never gets any peace, and that if Lennie wasn't around life would be easy and he could get a girl. The day the pair were due to go to work George warned Lennie not to say anything when the boss was around as he may get them sacked by saying the wrong thing. Queston 2 What have you learned about the two central characters? Lennie - He copies everything George does. Lennie is quite a big man who has a shapeless face, and has large, pale eyes. Lennie washed himself with the water from the green pool, whilst encouraging George to do it to. He is fascinated with mice and rabbits and always wants to keep them as pets. It soon becomes clear that Lennie has a mental disability and is reliant on George. Lennie is forgetful and George has to continuously remind him of things. He is very kind and gentle, he wouldn't hard anyone or harm anything. George - George feels isolated when Lennie is around. He is the
