Marian-Webster defines hero as "one who shows great courage" and "the principal male character in a literary or dramatic word." Odysseus fits Marian-Webster's definition, due to the fact throughout Odysseus' astonishing journey; Odysseus often shows certain qualities that make him a hero. Despite the fact Odysseus does not display heroic characteristics, he generally is a clever, respectful and welcoming heroic figure. Throughout most of a hero’s journeys a hero must overcome a great obstacle, and in order to pass that obstacle a hero must be very clever. Odysseus is a perfect example of a clever hero, Odysseus had to overcome a countless amount of obstacles throughout his journey, and Odysseus usually overcame those obstacles by using his cleverness.
In the film these retainers are his loyal soldiers who stand by him all the way to the end. They follow him to battles as well as look out for him when it seems as though danger is near. It seems as if they reflect the exact ideas as him but do not possess the same strength nor leadership to be in his position. Just like the basis of William Shakespeare’s romanic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet, the archetype of Star-crossed lovers also has a role in this story. The woman that William Wallace loved dearly and even secretly married did not survived throughout the story.
Cyrano once and again proves his worthiness for someone like Roxane, yet would rather make her happy than have happiness himself. In addition to his gallant ways, he has surely won the respected title of hero, for who better than the subtle companion, Cyrano? It is his bravery, his honor, and his pure love that makes Cyrano such an outstanding character¾the best kind of hero to grace the literary world in years past, and presumably, years to come as
In conclusion, in Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, we see the roles that gods and fate play in the lives of mortals. Odysseus is both aided and troubled the actions of Gods, but ultimately reaches his goal of returning home. Without the aid of the Gods, particularly Zeus and Athena, Odysseus would not have been able to reclaim his throne and return home to his wife, son, and palace. Persistence remains strong in Odysseus throughout the story, but only divine intervention and fate help him ward off troubles and conquer all
Plato said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Homer’s The Odyssey is no exception to this idea. This theme of heroin figure is focus and portrayed by the main character. A hero definitely has to be brave. He is Odysseus, a famous Greek epic hero, displays all these qualities throughout his journey home, and abroad. Odysseus conquers this characteristic in several ways.
A hero is somebody who cares about others and fights for what they believe in with confidence. In “The Odyssey” by Homer, a king named Odysseus ventures out from his home Ithaka to travel the seas. He has a long and hard journey trying to make his way home. Although debatable, Odysseus can be considered a true hero because he is brave, clever, and loyal. Odysseus is a brave hero who shows no mercy to his enemies.
I believe that the Character Odysseus from the Epic poem The Odyssey portrays being an epic hero because of the fact that he is brave, loyal, and intelligent. I will use evidence from the text to prove how he was so Intelligent, Brave, and Loyal. Prove of how Odysseus is intelligent in the Odyssey, is at the stanza 315 when he tells the Cyclops that his name is nobody. This later on is very helpful as for when the other Cyclopes’ are asking what’s wrong and what happened and who did this to you. He says nobody which makes them believe that he is okay and that there is no one hurting him when really Odysseus is there in the cave with the Cyclops.
Even though he found out the hard way he understands the way of life. The Epic of Gilgamesh I thought was a superior epic poem. I absorbed a lot from all the themes. First, love for someone is an inspiring influence; if you really adore someone or something you should undergo pain when it’s gone. Second, The inescapability of death; no one can live forever so benefit the time you have and let every moment count.

From drug use to stealing and even murdering, i think its still very important to have core beliefs. A core belief to me is a way of living that will never change no matter what the circumstance. One core belief that i have is to always try your hardest. I think this is the most important character you can have because it will push you through life and help you become a more reliable and better person.
Unlike a Protagonist, there is only one Hero, A hero is generally defined as a person who displays great courage in the face of danger and is willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. In this novel neither one really fits the description of 'Hero', Arthur doesn't sacrifice much for George, and George is already in a very bad position so doesn't really have much to sacrifice. In this novel the hero would have to be chosen by the person that did the most heroic act. By this definition we can conclude that Arthur is the hero as he helped George get out of his misery and back on his feet. George also helped Arthur through Touie's death, We also have more sympathy towards George as he is from a poor family, he is constantly victimized due to his skin colour and myopia.
