Primate Behavior Project Primate Observations: Immediately arriving to the Zoo at approximately 11:00, I noticed they the chimpanzees were a lot calmer than other days. They seemed as though they were just mellow, trying to relax. The first observations seen were Jake lying with the female chimps. A few were idle most of the time. The momma chimps, Zoe and Yoshi were at all times with their babies carrying them and holding on to them. At one point I caught one of the chimps hair plucking his own hair. At another point I caught Shawn flashing everyone lying flat on his back. The cutest thing I saw during that time was Jake, who was raised by a human, playing peek-a-boo. The mother chimpanzees were the ones that were always with the babies holding them and cradling them. When I made my observations at McDonalds I noticed that most of the people that were with their children were the mothers. At the zoo, I noticed that the only ones interacting with the baby chimpanzees were the mothers. One great example of this was when the babies were hungry; I noticed how similar females are in the sense that both the chimp and the human had to nurse the baby in order to feed them. The only difference I noticed with this, was that the lady I observed nursed her baby with a blanket over her for privacy. The chimpanzees had no shame and fed them in front of…show more content…
It’s common in the sense that we both can eat with our hands. The chimpanzees at the zoo were fed bananas and vegetables and that is something we both have in common. The way babies eat is also very similar to how babies are fed. Both are and can be nursed by their mothers. The chimpanzees at the zoo carry a human diet. They enjoy eating fruits and meats, water, and tasty nuts. Although chimps are bipedal they choose to, most of the time walk on all fours. That is something we as humans do not have in common with chimpanzees. Although we can crawl, we use only our feet to walk and run. Chimps have longer arms that allow them to walk easier and
