A new size-health perspective
    Media has created an unrealistic image of the ideal weight for individuals. More people are engaging into unhealthy diets and extreme workouts either to reach the "perfect size" or to escape the criticism of being overweight. Under the new perspective of the ideal weight, obese ad overweight people are viewed to lack self discipline and self control by the society. However, they need to understand that genetics and medications contribute to a person's size. That's why the idea "healthy" weight varies from one person to another.

    Millions of obese, overweight and even normal sized people have been on constant diets for years. They have been denying themselves the indulgence of sweet food and the consumption of foods of high calorie and high fat content. Engaging in strenuous workouts with unrealistic goals of practicing for 3 hours a day to lose 9 pounds every 11 days. People have even started to refer to the magic pills that will presumably make them drop the extra pounds in a matter of days without them having to change their life styles or eating habits. Chinese needles and treatments for losing weight are also becoming "all the rage" for making individuals feel full, eat less, thus lose weight. These are all attempts to reach the ultimate, media approved size zero.

    Size zero, the dream of many individuals in the obese society, has become almost something to worship. The obsession of XXS jeans has actually turned out to be good for business. Whereas, McDonald's extra crispy fries have started to make people feel guilty. Other sugar free, low fat, low carbohydrates, high fiber products have found their way to the market. Almost all food products now have their diet alternatives that are selling fast. In this concept the size zero dream has actually proved to be good for business.
