Samantha Mcintyre NVQ 3 Unit 2 – 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2 Task 1.2 Mentor Meeting It is important for a carer to obtain feedback as this will let them know where they are doing their job well and also to be aware of any improvement that can be made in order to meet the needs of the service users. Improvements could include attending training courses or changing their attitude in some way, or simply remembering the dress code for work. Everyone reacts differently to receiving constructive feedback. Some may listen to all that is being said and take it all in and understand the reasoning for this, they will then make any changes they need to improve themselves. Others can become defensive as they may feel that they are doing everything right and that there are no changes that need to be made. In care things like training, policies and procedures and changes in Laws and Regulations are happening all the time so there is a need to keep up to date with them all and partake in all training to have an up to date knowledge of their job role. A carer needs to use the feedback as a tool, to make themselves better in their role. By undertaking all training that they are offered to make them the best possible carer. To understand ever changing policies, procedures, Laws and Regulations so they know what is expected of them in their role and what their boundries are. To look at themselves and with help, if needed to make the changes needed. Mentor meeting notes - For Sally Smith Always arrives early for shifts. Willingness to cover holiday and sickness shifts even at short notice. Works well with other members of the team. Takes direction well. Very good interaction with residents and the families. Appearance is good, needs to remember Hair tied back, no nail varnish. All training completed and up to date. Sickness – 6 weeks during the last 6 months.
