It is important within the care setting that information is recorded, as it may be called upon for legal reasons. All communications are confidential and are on a need to know basis. Communication between colleagues is essential so that it ensures a continuity of care to the service user.
Effective communication between staff is essential for care to be professional. Without effective communication care needs of the clients may go unnoticed leading to medical problems, abuse, depression etc. Communication with residents is most important in care job. That’s the way how you can easier understand they needs, requirements. It can affect service that carer provide to residents-more effective communication, better service to residents; with effective communication carer is building trust between residents and staff that helps in future work with them.

You communicate to portray your feelings, moods, emotions, opinions on a one to one basis with clients, making eye contact to ensure that the communication between you both will not be disrupted by each other not paying attention. But it is also important that information is recorded properly between staff and management to ensure that other employers are aware of the current needs of the client. You can communicate in many different ways; using communication books, handover with other staff, meetings etc.
They may speak fluently, but not make sense. They may not be able to understand what you are saying or only be able to grasp part of it. They may lose the normal social conventions of conversations and interrupt or ignore a speaker, or fail to respond when spoken to. They may have difficulty expressing emotions appropriately. 2.
1.1 Identify different reasons why people communicate People use communication every day when working with other people, it is an essential tool to express needs and concerns; to share information and ask for advice; to give emotional support or to ask for reassurance; to express how you are feeling; to socialise and to build relationships. In a setting where elderly people are present communication is used to talk to service users about their needs and to liaise with other staff members regarding those needs. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work Effective communication in my job is important, as it makes sure all information passes between service users, colleagues and me is clear and concise; accurate and non-judgemental. It also reduces the chance of mistakes being made. If the communication between a service user/colleague and me is effective then this helps to build trust and improve the relationship.

Concentration is important when working with individuals, this is due to the fact that being concentrated in what patients are saying would enable you to become fully aware of there situation and needs which is important when caring for them. Also you would be able to understand their questions or any issues more effectively. Additional information can be gained if I have concerns about the patient which may be beyond my understanding or you may have less knowledge on the question asked. 2. Be able to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of individuals: Communication can be difficult, especially when you are in a situation where you are unsure of the language and abilities of those who you are working with.

We communicate with many people in the care setting for many reasons, here are some examples: Clients – To give them choices, express their needs, to share ideas and information, to reassure, to express feelings, to build relationships, to ask questions; to share experiences. If a client is not feeling well it is essential that they are able to convey this to you.

This then gives us a better understanding of all of their needs as individuals, making sure their needs and preferences are being met. By building trust, preventing misunderstandings and developing our skills and knowledge we can discuss options and choices available and allow them to make informed choices regarding their care. 1.3- Explain why it is important to observe an individuals reaction when communicating with them.
To enable myself to communicate with the residents, speaking clearly and directly gets the message across . Good communication skills are vital for working in health and social care as they help to develop positive relationships with the residents and their family's and friends so myself and colleagues can understand and meet the needs of the residents. 1.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individuals reaction when communicating with them. When I communicate with the residents it is important that i understand how each resident is feeling and what they want to say. I can do this by observing a variety of reactions.
