Duties and responsibilities of job role: I am employed as social care support worker. My duties include day to day support of the customer and of their house hold, management of customer’s finances, support with health and medical issues; promote independence and aid in building social skills. I must build a working relationship with the customer and be able to meet their needs and expectations. I must at all times adhere to health and safety laws, meet CQC standards and follow company policies and procedures within my job role. CQC standards affect my job and influence the way I perform my daily tasks. Respecting and involving customers is achieved in my job role by having customers assist in preparing and implementing their care plans. By treating customers with respect and giving them the privacy they need and also in aiding them to communicate and express their feeling, wishes and needs. By engaging in conversation and explain how care is to be carried out with customers and giving them understanding we are able to get consent from the customer. If the customer is unable to consent due to lack of communication skills or understanding family members and health professionals and care workers will discuss during a best interest meeting. Health assessments are vital and keep the customer with up to date medical needs and protect against unneeded medication or health care. We also make sure each customer has their own individual health file and that only they have access to their medication so no medication can be swapped. I have been provided with food hygiene training to ensure customers are not at risk of food poisoning. This course also aided in identifying nutritional meals and helping maintain a healthy diet.
