Supervisions are regular, between myself and my manager. They are designed to help improve the way I work, they offer practical and guidance and support in areas that I need to improve. After supervisions are the appraisals. They evaluate what was covered in the supervisions to make sure that improvement is occurring and to set new goals. My supervisions are taken on shift, my manager will watch how I work, how I integrate with the team of staff and with the clients in the care home and put forward any ideas on what I could do differently but also explain what I am doing well.
In a social work environment communication can be an essential tool in order to meet the needs of a vulnerable adult. It is a basic requirement in the social care role to communicate with the individuals you care for their families and also with other members of staff involved with their care on a daily basis. Communicating with the other staff members you work with shows team working and continuity of care. It also ensures health and safety issues are recognised and reported. One form of this communication is a verbal handover at the beginning and end of each shift, there is also the filling in of relevant communication books and care plans for each of the individuals you care for, this keeps others in the knowledge of the current situation in the work place with service users.
To resolve any difficulties we should give choices and let them decide, given more details about the food to help them choose and information needed. Explain to the individual the importance of a healthy diet and why it benefits them, and support them to choose the best option for them and why each dish has it pros and cons. For example – should they be choosing high calorific content or fibrous. If a client is in need of extra support I mentor and support the client though there needs. We provide after care on a range of subjects, where we discuss and process saturations that arise. I facility house meetings, where house maintenance issues are recorded, staff and client concerns are discussed. Answer the phone and recording messages, liaising with members of staff, booking in one to one appointment, and providing information for clients providing help and guidance. I carry out health and safety checks, which also make sure the clients, are using the properties correctly and cleanliness is recorded.
UNIT 202 During the day my job duties and responsbilities is to undertake personal care as required to service users including washing, toileting, assisting to feed and manual handling. I would support service users in anyway needed to maintain dignity and privacy. I would participate in activities , meeting service users needs. I would attend staff meetings as and when required. I would need to comply with health and safety requirements in respect of manual handling and use of PPE to help control infection.

I have a duty of care to myself, my colleagues and the person I am caring for or anyone else affected by my actions. I would do this by attending regular team meetings, keep my training up to date, wearing protective clothing at all times whilst giving the clients care and disposing of it correctly, reading the care plan to ensure the correct care is given, recording everything whilst in the clients property and reporting anything that concerns me to the senior carer or manager. Understand support available for addressing dilemmas that may arise about duty of care As a domiciliary care worker I may experience many dilemmas. I would aim to help people live independently in their own homes and encourage them to make decisions for themselves. If I feel the decision the individual makes would cause harm to themselves, myself or any other being I am them faced with a dilemma.
When I am caring out all these, I do remember person centred values and this helps me to do what is right for the client or what the client wants .At the start of a shift proper handover is received, read and sign/communication book is read, clients care plan is read and follow staff meetings to get information and changes about the clients for example if I have arranged with the service user to shave during personal care ,then when the time comes he changes his mind, its his right to change his mind. At this stage we communicate and sort something else for another time. Personal relationship is based on emotions and informal. In personal relationships you often share support between each other and feelings and thoughts as you can be who you are with family or friends. It involves doing things together outside work.
Duty of care in health and social care settings 1.1 Duty of care is the responsibility for taking care of another person , ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing. Giving individuals choice and safeguarding provided for service users as well as colleagues. Adhering and observing legal obligations and policies/procedures of the organisation. 1.2 In my role as a care worker, it would be restricted to my own level of competence, I would report any concerns that I have over an individual’s care or health to my work supervisor. I would follow up on these concerns on any subsequent visits to ensure concerns have been acted upon and hopefully resolved.
