Novotel Hotel is a destination for this case study. This modern hotel is located near North York Center and North Business District. The entrance to Novotel has gray marble that makes hotel gives the impression of grave. This impression let people trust Novotel, like me. My team members and I went to front desk and told receptionist that our purpose for coming Novotel. After interview when I was seating in subway, I cognized working in front desk is a good position in hotel. A desk clerk as an entry-level position is helpful for graduate of college, because doing this job people should have responsibility in the first place. To work in front desk may change your personality to positive. It is a good way to start career life. In addition, people who work as a desk clerk need patient, confidence, polite, communication skills, telephone skills and computer proficient. If I were a desk clerk, I thought I can take this job. Firstly, I know that how to use computer even if it has some problems. Secondly, patient. For studying two years tourism program, I know patient is an important part. When a desk clerk is getting a complaint is from a nude custom, she/he have to use all communication skills to deal with this situation and make custom calm down. What if a desk clerk has no patient, a hotel will lose a guest. Finally, telephone skills. Since I have taken custom service (program), I found answering telephones are indispensable, because positive attitudes can build stronger relationships with customers. I learn to ask if I call at a convenient time, take messages when I can’t solve the problem immediately and have an efficient greeting. If I have a chance to work in Novotel, I must accept it.
