Rasputin lead a very interesting and but relatively short life. Born a peasant he grew up with a supernatural sense of spiritualism that was his gift and his curse. He worked for half of his life trying to find a balance between religion and desires of the flesh. Possessing an unnatural way of almost hypnotizing those around him Grigory Rasputin had a great reputation as a spiritualist and a healer, an attribute that brought him to an esteemed position advising the Royal family of Russia. Feared amongst the members of aristocracy he was killed in 1916.

There’s a lot that can be said about the life of Rasputin. He was worshipped by some and hated by others, but it can be certain that he was an interesting man. He was unquestionably influential and had a way of making people believe and do as he said. Rasputin loved to draw women to him; he was very charismatic and loved to surround himself with them. (Goldberg, Enid A., Itzkowits, Norman. 2009, p. 84)   People that met him could feel the hypnotic pull that Rasputin seemed to place on them. (Oakley, Jane 1990 pg.142) Because of his magnetic demeanor he became close to the royal family of Russia and many believed that he was influencing the governing decisions of Nicholas II. Through enchantment and enthrall Grigory Rasputin had a small but significant impact in the Russian revolution, and history as it is known.
Grigory Rasputin was born Grigory Yefimovich Novykh as a peasant in a town called Pokrovskoe. (Fuhrmann, Joseph T 1989 pg.3) He was nicknamed “Rasputin” which means “debauched one” in Russian. (World History 2010) His exact age isn’t know because the people of this time were very casual about keeping up with dates, but it is estimated that he was around the age of 52 in 1915...
