Ashley Clement Professor Stephanie August 5, 2012 Research Paper Draft It’s Better To Burn Out Then Fade Away Alternative rock/grunge music was changed in the early 90’s when the infamous Kurt Cobain got together with Krist Novoselic to create the band Nirvana. “Few bands in rock history have had a more immediate and tangible impact on their contemporary pop musical landscape than Nirvana did in the early Nineties” (Rolling Stones). Nirvana’s distinct sound helped inspire many bands and artists in the 90’s and changed the history of rock forever. Although the band was only around for several years due to addiction and metal anguish the impact they had in such a short period of time is thrilling and undeniable. It all started in 1987 in Aberdeen Washington, when vocalist/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic got together.
Pepper’s” at first, but decided against it due to obvious, potential lawsuit reasons, but the concept was truly unique. Instead of marketing themselves as the Beatles, they created a fictitious concert band. The way it was organized was different too; the songs are all synced, like they are really performing a concert on tour. But that wasn’t the only illusion within the album; their new psychedelic sound, sampled into the public with Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever, skyrocketed, blowing the minds of everyone who purchased this record. The Beatles hard work became noticed with this album, and so did their increasing interest in drugs.
The Beatles Four young men once came together to form a rock band that changed the world forever. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr came from Liverpool, England around 1950. These talented men created more than music, they developed a different way of life. Today, The Beatles may not be together, but the influence they had on popular culture still remains and continues to grow. Before the Beatles, the boys were for the most part strangers all looking for a music career.
What Chuck was successful at doing, was to turn those stereotypes around and proclaim that his brand of music (he was named the Godfather of Death metal for a reason) dealt with issues of life, and though he did write gore lyrics, they were merely tongue in cheek, B level horror movie lyrics. How was he able to do this while escaping any criticism from critics? How was he able to be so successful with only a guitar and a couple of other band members? We must dig deep into his life to find out what kind of person Chuck really was, and how his success was firmly established into becoming the most influential guitar player and founder of the most successful death metal band of all
These people might be right but I can almost guarantee that there is probably no other artist that is as influential as Hendrix and that has changed music the way he has. After listening to some pieces of his work, they made me want to jump up on the stage with him and rock with my imaginary guitar. In my opinion he is the best
Now the debate still continues whether or not Lance Armstrong should be stripped of his Tour de France titles. Lance Armstrong is seen as one of the greatest cyclist of all times after consecutively winning titles from 1998-2005. His success throughout his cycling career has made him one of the most known cyclists in history but as of August 24, 2012 the US Anti-Doping Agency determined that Armstrong has used banned substances and erased his cycling titles, and further banned him for life from the sport (Lance Armstrong) His goal [of winning the Tour de France] led him to depend on EPO, testosterone and blood transfusions but also, more ruthlessly, to expect and to require that his team-mates would likewise use drugs to support his goals if not their own," concluded the report. "It was not enough that his team-mates give maximum effort on the bike, he also required that they adhere to the doping programme outlined for them or be replaced (Fotheringham,
16 December 2009 Metallica’s Influence on Society “The fans like the idea that we do what we want. It’s not an act. Screw the record company and the beaten path.” The attitude of Metallica is well captured in this quote stated by James Hetfield. Metallica has had this nonconformist attitude ever since Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield started Metallica in 1981. James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich have created eleven successful albums with the help of their long-time guitarist Kirk Hammett, their current bassist Rob Trujillo, and previous members Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton, and Jason Newsted.
They became the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in the rock music era. The members of the Beatles are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star. They had more number-one albums on British charts and sold more singles in the UK than any other group in the rock era. “According to the RIAA, as of 2012 the Beatles have sold 177 million units in the US, more than any other artist” In 2008, the group topped Billboard magazine's list of the all-time most successful "Hot 100" artists. Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr all went their separate ways each released solo albums in the 1970s.
You gotta be able to leave your head without drugs." Judging from the eye-rolling and mild disgust that greeted the tragic images of the late Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty (both of whom were far more famous for taking drugs than for making music under their spell), Adolf isn't alone in balking at rock's reputation for intoxication. Just the same, that doesn't change the fact that, more often than not, when musicians become teetotalers, the resulting music is usually a pile of donkey dung. Take Bob Dylan, for instance. While he certainly delivered a handful of decent records after ending his (practically) sleepless eighteen months on Dexedrine and cannabis in the mid-'60s, those were rare gems in an ocean of useless tunes.
Emo broke into the mainstream culture in the early 2000s with the platinum selling success of Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional and the emergence of the subgenre ‘Screamo’. In addition to music, "emo" is often used more generally to signify a particular relationship between fans and artists, and to describe related aspects of fashion, culture, and behaviour. Male Emo Female Emo Emo here also!!!!! Emo songs- Emo Clipart Screamo is a subgenre of hardcore punk which predominantly evolved from emo, among other genres, in the early 1990s. The term "screamo" was initially applied to a more aggressive offshoot of emo that developed in San Diego in 1991, which used short songs that grafted "spastic intensity to wilfully experimental dissonance and dynamics."
