Nike’s Objectives and Risk Measures The below listed objectives are the core areas which we feel Nike needs to systematically evaluate and design strategies to improve on in order to create shareholder value. Customer Perspective: As we mentioned earlier in our research, Nike is known as one of most innovative companies in its industry and one of its leaders so it is critical for its ongoing success to continue offering innovative products and widen its customer base. We believe that can be done by utilizing technology to collect consumer data and preferences as well as conducting more traditional market studies and focus groups. Even though Nike’s brand is known and sold around the world, they should continue to search and target new consumer groups that they are currently not serving. That could be done by identifying the unmet needs of that demographic group and designing and marketing products directly to them, perhaps utilizing new channels of distribution. Financial Perspective: One of the other key objectives for Nike is protecting and growing shareholder value, which requires the following financial metrics be evaluated periodically – earnings per share, debt to equity ratio, asset turn over, net cash flows, etc. Innovation and Growth are key to Nike’s success. They must continue investing in new design development and protect their intellectual property in the increasingly competitive market. Focusing in this area will allow a new product to be introduced on the market in a shorter period of time and will reinforce Nike’s competitive adventage over its rival companies. It is also very important that they continue their efforts to explore new markets which will allow to grow their market share. Internal Business Process: Our research showed that Nike is dedicated to sustainable operations including resource conservation and reducing waste.
