This approach was inspired by a group of preschools in the Reggio Emilia area of Italy. The main features of this approach are, Children need some control over their own play and learning with teachers acting as facilitators. Children need to learn from and enjoy being with other children. Children need a rich environment so that they can learn and express themselves in a number of ways. High/Scope.
Landon Stewart Mrs. Luker Government A4 10/23/12 Cons of School Uniforms There are many schools in the U.S. that require their students to wear uniforms, and there are more that don't. I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
Children should learn through their own pace and we shouldn’t throw things at them that will be difficult for them to acquire. Students shouldn’t have so much power and authority put on them and their learning should come naturally. Every child is different and unique in their own ways and some children take longer to learn than others but we need to let the child have the chance to pick up things themselves at their own pace. Montaigne believes that no one should be pushed or forced to do anything they are not capable of doing. Montaigne also believes that wisdom and character are both important factors.
Students awarded Qualified Teacher Status need to “Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment” (DfES, 2012). According to a review by EPP (2004), Initial Teacher Education (ITE) is a crucial focus for action in the area of behaviour management as it provides a unique opportunity to establish the foundations for effective practice. Under jurisdiction, the United Kingdom Government has the responsibility to provide free, compulsory education for all primary aged children allowing children to reach the best of their abilities achieving their fullest potential (United Nations, 1989). I believe it is therefore the responsibility of all teachers to keep updated with current research to provide each and every child they teach, the best possible positive and safe engaging learning environments that they can. I believe that as a teacher you are not only a provider of knowledge but also a role model for a child.
Also, if student’s only studies subjects that interest them then they are being ignorant to the world around them. Overall, students will be challenging themselves and they would not develop practical skills. Graff believes schools should integrate nonacademic interests as objects of academic study, such as street smart, to the traditional education system. He explains that kids who are street smart do not have interest in the traditional education system and therefore, do not do well in their academic studies. Graff uses his own experience as an example, “It was in … my reading of sports books and magazines, that I began to learn the rudiments of the intellectual life: how to make an argument” (201).
The people that would hate a rule change like this one would be teachers and students because many of these politicians don’t see what really is going on is public schools. The second plan that I felt would not be good for lowering the national debt is from the
Depending on the education, the citizens receive they will use their power and the country's power in either a good way or a bad way. If people learn about countries helping each other out and being peaceful, then they will most likely do the same when they are in power. Of course there are a few times when this isn't the case. For a country to be positive they have to learn that being positive is the best way to be. They can learn about countries that used their power to do bad things but they need to see that in history it has never worked out and will not help the country out in the long run.
The first reason the grading policy should not be changed is students/parents would not know their exact grade. For instance, if a parent wants to know how their child is doing in school, they wouldn’t know because the new grading system doesn’t give enough insight (doesn’t break grade down). Also due to the fact that more students pass than fail,
For instance, Johnson suggests strategies such as providing additional instructional help including specialists, therapists, and aides, (b) establishing flexible classroom that are open and can provide direct instruction in small, self-contained areas, (c) assigning specific teachers with teaching styles that match the learning styles of children with special needs. More important, Sattler asserts that before a teacher evaluates a child with special needs he or she should the child for other potential health problems such as vision, hearing, and other physical conditions (261). In addition, the teacher should examine the student’s school record to determine behaviors of socialization and cooperation. Particularly for preschool children, Sattler recommends the use of materials that is important in communication strategies with younger children, and special needs children including gestures and positive reinforcement. More important, the best way to make a child welcome is to establish a good rapport with the child, so that the child feels comfortable and ready to interact with the teacher and the rest of the
It is the responsibility of the adult/caregiver to teach a child how to make good choices and encourage exploration of the world around them in which they may encounter the circumstances of their actions. The McMillan sister theory of the “nurture” school is equally important because the health of the child is vital to their learning ability. An unhealthy child’s development can be delayed if they are constantly sick, improperly cared for, as well as neglected. T. Brazelton’s reasonable discipline is also important because a child should be taught the way that they should go and even though they may stray they will always return to what they were taught. All children should be able to explore but must have boundaries set.
