SIP Trunking DeVry University Networking 320 Submitted to: Professor: Broman Date: 7/26/1313 Submitted by: Francisco Santoya Session Initiation protocol (SIP) trunking is a voice over internet protocol application for network media that companies used to provide software service such as web conferencing with clients, desktop sharing among employees, and shared whiteboard. This technique is circuit switching equipment for virtual connection with minimal traffic flow. Sip trunking provide efficient connection whereas before traditionally Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) network were once used with multiple wires are required to connect to a business over the internet. This protocol enables organization to extend quick efficiency through firewall access without the hassle of using a PTSN gateway. SIP trunk enhances communication within parties for organization such as instant messaging, emergency calls, and conference meetings. Deploying and Configuring SIP trunking needs two interfaces: internal and external interfaces. Also, SIP trunking required three components for deployment: PBX with a SIP-enabled trunk side, an enterprise edge device and a SIP trunking service provider. The first component for service provider is PBX which is needed for communicating with IP endpoints and interfacing with SIP trunking. Second component is enterprise border element required a firewall with complete SIP support for SIP traffic. The last component for SIP trunk is Internet Telephone Service Provider (ITSP) provide connection for PSTN with mobiles. The beneficial factor of using SIP trunk is cost effective for organization and easier to configure to design ITSPs.
