However, still we often see more negative attitudes because still society sees PWD through medical model. The movie gives an accurate picture that we often see attitudes towards people with disability in the legal and social service systems. It is also explores deeply what it means to be a “good” parent and an authentic human being. Representation of disability Sam is mentally retarded adult who grew up in an institute when he was small. He is well-adjusted to his disability and has a fairly normal life.
Breast Feeding vs Bottle Feeding Many new mothers struggle with the decision of whether to breastfeed or bottle feed their newborn baby. With each there are many pros and cons. Most people will argue that breast feeding is more beneficial to the baby, and is an overall better choice. However, it is not a bad decision by any means to decide to bottle feed your baby, so you should not feel guilty if this is the decision you make. Bottle fed babies are able to be fed by anyone, and not just their mother.
Cultural Diversity in Child Bearing Practices around the World Nursing 8/1/2013 Abstract Much is written on best practices of evidence based birthing statistics and outcomes. They are very important public health issues, due to the still high mortality rates for both mother and child in different parts of the world. Never the less, the efficacy of different childbearing practices will not be compared in this short paper. The goal is to look at the very real belief systems of very real people who are giving birth and cross our paths as nurses every day. How does a nurse’s understanding of a patients culture help positive outcomes?
I will begin by talking about the reasons for abortion. Nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester, when a fetus cannot exist independent of the mother. As it is attached by the placenta and umbilical cord, its health is dependent on her health, and cannot be regarded as a separate entity as it cannot exist outside her womb. This is the strongest argument that I came up with. It is very important for the mother’s health to be up to part.
There are many other options for women that are not ready to be mothers. Having your baby aborted is not the answer; it is just the easiest way to deal with your problem. When women are asked, they have three typical responses they give for justifying their reason for an abortion. Some say that having a baby would interfere with work, school, or other responsibilities. Others say they cannot afford a child, and then some say that they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner.
All of which are important in order to keep some semblance of a sane life. My opinion on this matter is that for new moms to breast-feed when they can but to not beat themselves up if they are not only breast-feeding and have to incorporate formula. Each family dynamic is different and new moms and their partners need to determine for themselves what works for their
Multiple birth babies are at increased risk of low birth weight because they are often pre mature. Moreover, excessive stress and victim of domestic violence or other abuse also may increase the risk of low birth weight. Babies who have low birth weight are more likely to have health problems than babies born normally. Many of the premature and low birth weight babies lack enough body fat to uphold a normal body temperature, and have medical problems. Some of the medical problems that infants with low birth weight have are that they have the risk of developing breath problems such as the respiration distress syndrome.
Substance Abuse in Pregnant Women While pregnant, it is important that a woman takes care of her body not only for herself but for her unborn child. While in the womb, a fetus grows and develops from the nourishment from the mother via the placenta. However, along with nutrients, any toxins in the mother’s system may be delivered to the fetus. These toxins often cause damages to the development of organs. Substance abuse among women while pregnant is happening more frequently than it should.
Approximately 1.3 million unplanned pregnancies end in abortion every year. There are several reasons women choose to have abortions such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, it is the individual woman’s decision. If an abortion is denied, the women would have the child in unsafe living conditions and the child would not get everything he/she needs to live a good life. First Trimester Abortions should not be viewed negatively because a woman's body is her own, circumstances are always different, and a woman has individual rights.
Is Adoption Better Than Abortion: There are many similarities that link both abortion and adoption however there are also very many differences which separate them, either reasons which concern the mentality of the mother after the two processes and the physical differences made to their life. The first, most obvious similarity; is that they are giving up their baby, another being that you are not forced into unplanned parenthood. This however, also links into not being forced into hastily made relationships or even marriages with the father of the child. This being a fantastic reason which favours the two options as does the prevention of teenage girls losing their youth to being forced into a position that may hinder the whole of their later life. One of the main differences between adoption and abortion is that abortion ends a life in order to end a pregnancy whereas adoption requires the giving up of the young or new born baby.
