When children start to abuse the convenience of the internet by harassing other people, the internet becomes very dangerous. What makes cyber bullying so dangerous? Cyber bullying is dangerous because it has the ability to take the smallest incident and build up so much tension around it that it results in a murder or suicide. Some people may blame the victim for lacking self control and not being able to ignore the situation. Some people may claim it was just a joke and may blame the victim for being too sensitive or insecure.
Today, the meaning of communication has completely changed. It has become much easier to sustain a relationship through social media and the constant interaction that it provides. In contrast, social media can also prove to destroy relationships. Some people may get so caught up in virtual relationships that they have little to no regard for actual relationships. They may become so used to communicating via internet that they lose basic communication skills and can’t hold a face to face conversation.

Author Louis Kraft states that, social networking has taken too much control of our daily lives, to the point where it leads to people being envious and depressed (2011). Activities such as cyber bullying have been more prominent and have increased due to social media, resulting in many depressed victims. Some predators will work their way into gaining trust before slowly introducing sexually explicit content in the conversations while others maybe faster and upfront with sexually explicit content. Many times, predators may record or make use of conversations to blackmail or harass a child. The most common stereotype of the online predator is a middle-aged man with no job who lives alone and whose day only consists of luring young children and teenagers through the Internet. Though this may be partly true, the real statistics are interesting.
