What will you consider as necessary forms of intervention by parents to ensure the educational success of their children? Discuss. A Parent A parent refers to an individual who takes care of and nurtures his/her offspring or child while an intervention is described as an orchestrated attempt by one or many people – usually family and friends – to get someone to seek professional help for a serious problem. Traditionally, parents have been held responsible for the academic success of their children. Ways in which parents can ensure the academic success of their children. 1) Involved Parents As children get older, it is customary for them to be given more leisure and freedom, parents should remember that they are still responsible their academic welfare. Hence we will now suggest some ways in which parents can ensure the academic success of their children. We will start by first examining reasons why children may warrant a parent’s need to intervene in their life. • Children may start spending more and more time watching television and being submersed in Social Media sites and the internet as a whole. • Children may fall victim to peer pressure and start to hang out with shady individuals that are involved in drug and alcohol use and who engage in criminal behaviour. • Children who are lazy and frankly, unwilling to learn. • Children who are distracted by relationships and “true love”. Although parents conscientiously send their children off to school every day and expect them to do well, they can add an important extra ingredient that will boost their children's success. Parent participation is the ingredient that makes the difference. Parents' active involvement with their child's education at home and in school brings great rewards and can have a significant impact on their children's/child's lives.
